The other day at the grocery store, two cases of blackberries somehow slipped into my cart (no, really). I didn’t even realize it until I was unloading the groceries. I’m still not even sure if I paid for them! To be honest, I hardly ever buy blackberries. I usually go for blueberries or strawberries…. maybe God was trying to tell me I needed the antioxidants in them.. Lol.
So, I decided to make a simple, three ingredient smoothie only using bananas, blackberries, and greens. One thing I’ve noticed over the years is the more simple I keep my meals and/or smoothies, the easier it is to digest, which gives me instant energy and more alertness.
Seriously, how delicious does this smoothie look?! It was so tasty I just had to share it with you guys! And, talk about a fireball of energy!! I had energy for hours after drinking this, and it really filled me up. I even made a 16 oz jar of it for my boyfriend the other day, and he fell in love with it. He was even bragging about it to his co-workers…. you know it’s good when a guy brags about a health drink to his “manly” friends.. Lol!
I suggest drinking this as a meal replacement in the morning or afternoon. It could also serve as a snack for those who are highly active.
Serving Size (16oz)
- 2 Ripe Bananas (must be ripe with spots)
- 1 Handful of Blackberries (about 1/2 of the small case)
- 2 Handfuls of any leafy green (spinach is good)
Add 3-4 ice cubes and all ingredients to blender. Blend well. ENJOY!
