My Exclusive 7-Day Detox Cleanse (for detox and weight loss!)

>>> IMPORTANT — MUST READ — I have updated this 7-Day Detox. Please enter your email in the green box at the top of the screen to receive the updated version for FREE. <<<

FYI – For those asking what’s the difference between a Smoothie & and a Juice….

*A smoothie is when you add all ingredients to a blender with liquid (i.e. water) and blend the ingredients while a juice is when you add the ingredients to a juice extractor to extract only the juice.

If you don’t have a juicer, here’s a quick list of the one’s I recommend based on price range:

Best Juicer Under $100 > HERE

Best Juicer Under $150 > HERE

Best Juicer Under $200 > HERE

Best Juicer on the Market (IMO) > HERE  (Cold-Pressed Juicers are more expensive)

I tried to keep the number of ingredients for this cleanse as simple as possible without affecting the results.  Remember, this detox has been updated.  To get the updated version, be sure to enter your email in the green bar at the top of my site. You should be able to find organic options for all of these ingredients as most grocery stores.  If you can’t afford all organic, don’t worry… you’ll still get results.  Another option if your local grocery store doesn’t offer organic produce or you want to save an extra buck is to check out your local farmer’s market!

After the Cleanse:

Do NOT eat processed foods or drinks after the cleanse for at least 14-30 days.  Stick to eating all natural foods (fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, etc.).  While on the cleanse protocol, you began the cleansing and healing process.  You don’t want to undo the progress you’ve made!

P.S.

This is NOT a diet or meal plan.  This is a detox.  I do not recommend following this detox protocol as a continual diet plan.  In fact, if you plan on doing this cleanse for any longer than 14 days, I suggest you do so under the supervision of a medical professional.  Additionally, please keep in mind that a detox is about detoxifying the body of harmful toxins that have accumulated inside the body over the course of many years and can lead to some diseases, weight gain, etc.  A detox is not about weight loss alone – however, weight loss is usually a “side effect” of doing a detox since so many toxins are stored in fat cells.  Please keep this in mind when doing this detox.  The goal here is to make you healthier, not just skinnier.  Happy Cleansing!

  1. I submitted my email, but I am not receiving anything. I really want to start this week. Can you send it to me please ?

    • It’s completely up to you. If you feel energized, then it shouldn’t be a problem. But, if not, I wouldn’t force yourself to workout.

    • It should be at the top of my website. If you don’t see it, shoot me an email admin(@)kaylachandler.com and I’ll manually have it sent to you.

  2. Hi Kayla I started the detox today but i notice that i did it all wrong 🙁 I started with the carrots juice and for lunch i did the the detox juice, so no for dinner i was wondering if i should do the correct smoothie or start all over tomorrow

  3. Hi Kayla! I was just curious if there was a way to avoid buying a juicer for this detox? I have a Nutribullet but no juicer and I don’t want to buy a juicer if I don’t absolutely have to. Is there an organic juice I can buy to help with detox instead of buying juicer? Or can I use all Nutribullet smoothies? Thank you!

    • Hey Holly! You can go ahead and just use your NutriBullet… On the juice recipes, be sure to add enough water to thin out the consistency though. And, you may have to cut back on the ginger.

  4. Hi there! Just wondering if the whole fat flush smoothie has to be drunk at once? also the whole thing? My husband and I are both having a hard time drinking it all. 🙂
    Thanks!

      • it’s okay but keep in mind that fat (in general) slows down the detox process. So, the less you snack on these fats in between, the better more drastic results you’ll get. Having said that, if the only way you can stay on the detox (without quitting) is to snack on these things in between, then I’d rather you do that than to quit altogether because even though you may not lose as much weight, you’ll definitely still receive many of the health benefits of the detox. Another idea is to snack on fruits in between or have another fat flush smoothie 🙂

        • Thanks! one more question, I dropped about 3 or 4 pounds the first two days, and one pound the next, Im on day five and haven’t gone down anymore so far. And that one last pound can’t make up its mind weather it wants to stay or not. Should I expect to loose more still?

    • You can cut the portion size in half if you need to… but, I usually just sip on mine and it sometimes takes me a whole 30-60 minutes to finish… it’s okay to sip on it 🙂

    • Hi Elton.. if it’s a juice recipe, then you’ll want to juice it. If it’s a smoothie recipe, you’ll want to blend it. Be sure to download the updated version of this detox by entering your email in the green box at the top of my site 🙂

  5. Would you recommend doing the 7 day detox while breastfeeding? Or would the toxins be released into my breast milk?

    • Hey Alexis! Be sure to download the updated version of this detox by entering your email in to the green box at the top of my site as this is one of the FAQs I’ve included in the updated version. But, in short, I do not recommend it for exactly the reason you mentioned 🙂

  6. Im gonna start this monday, but i have some questions… like “i only drink the juices and no fruit or veggies at all? only juices and salad?

    • Hey Michelle! Please download the updated version of this detox by entering your email in the green bar at the top of my site… it’ll answer all of your questions plus some of the recipes have been updated 🙂

  7. I was going to do this cleanse along with using the Ultimate Cleanse by Nature’s Secret but wanted to check with you first. It’s a colon cleanse while eating healthy. I figured it wouldn’t hurt but wanted to check with you first. This looks really good, and I am excited to start it! Oh, I couldn’t get the updated version of the cleanse. When I put my e-mail address in, it says, “error subscribing, please try again.” Thanks!

    • Hey Sarah! It looks like you subscribed yesterday, which means you should’ve received an email with the updated 7-Day Detox. If you didn’t receive it, be sure to email me admin(@)kaylachandler.com … I don’t think it’s a problem using the Ultimate Cleanse alongside my detox. The only thing that may happen is that you detox too quickly, which may cause more detox symptoms than your body can handle. If you find that to be the case, then I would cut back on one of them (your choice) and do them separately in order to detox more slowly. Let me know how it goes 🙂

      • That is great! I will watch my body signs and see. Thanks for responding so quickly and for the diet. I will e-mail you for the updated version of the detox. 🙂 I have a couple other questions, but after reading the other comments they have been answered. I am so looking for my body to be cleansed and getting on to better health. If I have leaky gut (not sure if I do), would this help or would I need to do more to heal it?

        • Regarding leaky gut, you would definitely need to take further actions to heal it and it takes time (way more than 7 days) But, this cleanse shouldn’t hurt for sure. If you have leaky gut, keep in mind that it is typically a symptom of something going on much deeper in your body, such as candida overgrowth, parasites, chronic inflammation, chronic zinc deficiency, etc. For starters, bone broth and L-Glutamine are great for repairing the gut lining, but you would still need to address the underlying cause. 🙂

  8. Hi–I am planning on starting this cleanse tomorrow–this will be a first for me, hoping it will kick start to better eating on my part along with losing a bit of weight.
I put in my email but haven’t received updated version as of yet and is there a grocery list so we get enough for the week?
    Thank you!
    Mariannne

    • Hi Marianne… when you enter your email into the green box at the top of my site, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Be sure to click the confirmation link in that email; otherwise, the detox won’t be emailed. Once you click that confirmation link, the detox should be emailed to you right away.

    • Hi Tasha.. there are so many options for non-processed foods, including fresh fruits & veggies (make yourself a green smoothie), healthy grains such as quinoa, grass-fed organic meats, pasture-raised eggs, etc. I’m coming out with a 28-day meal plan soon that’ll be 100% gluten free and only whole non-processed foods, so if you want to receive an email for when I launch it, be sure to enter your email in the green box at the top of my site… this is a meal plan you don’t want to miss, especially if you’re seeking weight loss or just want to know how to transition to a whole foods (non-processed) diet. 🙂

  9. Hi Kayla,

I am planning on starting the 7 day detox tomorrow! I am so excited. I do have several questions though for you.

    1. Can you drink as much water as you want during the detox?
    2. How much dressing are you allowed to put on the salad?

    Thank you!

    • Hi Kinsley! You can drink as much water as you’d like. The dressing recipes should state what the serving size is… so if it says 1 serving, then you can eat the entire recipe on one salad. If it says 2 servings, then you’ll want to use 1/2 of it on one salad. Be sure to get the updated version of this cleanse though because I’ve updated some of these recipes (you can get it by entering your email in the green bar at the top of my site). Hope this helps! 🙂

    • No water should be added for the juices. For the smoothie recipes, you can add 2-4 cups of water depending on your desired consistency.

  10. This detox looks like it is one for me! The only question I have; is it okay to drink my daily Shakeology while on this detox? Thanks!

    • It depends on what type of results you’re trying to achieve. Two weeks is typically okay for most people, but I wouldn’t do it any longer than that without a break in between.

  11. Hello,
I just started the Detox, drank my 32oz Carrot juice this morning and now Im finishing up with my Fat Flush for lunch. I’ve been urinating a lot and have been getting slight light headed but I’m not feeling hungry.

    • Hi Rosa, if you get light headed and it’s not due to hunger, then it could very well be because you’re detoxifying the system too quickly.. if the light headedness doesn’t pass after the first 2 days, I suggest taking a small break and then starting the detox again. But, during the ‘break’ be sure to continue to eat very clean foods. Some people do better by easing into a detox (this is how I was in the beginning). Do the detox for 2 days – take a 5 day break eating clean – next aim for 3-4 days – take another break – etc. until you’re able to complete the full 7 days. The most important thing is to really learn to listen to your body. Although it’s important to fight through the initial detox symptoms, you do not want to push your body too hard. If you need more help, feel free to email me: admin@kaylachandler.com

      • Ok ty,I think I can pull though with the seven days. But ill still keep in consideration your advice. Being light headed only was in the morning and the urinating was to, I think it was because I was consuming Alot of water after the carrot juice because of the taste lol. I feel great after yesterday and the three meals. I wasn’t hungry throughout the whole night, which was a good thing I didn’t feel bad no headaches etc. I was even able to work out, I feel normal. Now on to 2 day. I’m excited !!!

  12. Hi Kayla,

I was going to email you this question instead of posting it on here but I thought maybe others might be wondering the same thing.

I am on day 4 of the cleanse! I have lost 7.5 lbs yayyy! and I feel amazing, but….. I haven’t had a bowel movement since I started the cleanse. Is this normal? I’m not in pain and I haven’t felt like I needed to go, it was just weird to me because I am very regular when it comes to that so I thought I’d ask.

    Thanks

    • Hi Rosa.. Congrats on your results so far! Sometimes when you do a detox, toxins (waste) can get temporarily backed up in the colon because your body is releasing toxins faster than your colon is releasing it from your body. Eventually, nature will take its course and the bowel movement(s) will come. However, for those who want to speed things up, you have a few options: 1) Drink an herbal laxative tea such as Smooth Move. It usually kicks in about 6-8 hours after drinking it. I suggest drinking it before going to bed. 2) Do a water enema. This will give you immediate results and is actually my first recommendation if you’re experienced with how to do an enema. 3) Do some type of cardio. It sounds simple, but a 30 minute cardio session can help to get the colon moving and push out the waste quicker. 4) Add extra greens to your smoothie recipes for more fiber. 5) Drink a glass of organic prune juice

*These additions are completely fine and will not alter the results of the cleanse.

      Hope this helps! 🙂

          • My total results after doing the detox for 7 days and following it exactly as you suggested:

            1. I feel amazing

            2. I have so much energy

            3. I don’t crave all the junk foods anymore

            4. I lost a total of 9.8 lbs

I am well on my way to losing the 30 lbs. before my sisters wedding in 3 months! 🙂

        • Rosa I was reading your post and wondering how your doing with your weight loss, I’m thinking of starting this detox. And was reading you had great results in 7 days

  13. I am going to start this cleanse tomorrow! I had so much trouble with the carrot juice since I only have a blender. I tried to strain it, but didn’t end up with the full 24-32oz. I am going to go out and buy a juicer tomorrow so I can do the whole cleanse with the proper amounts. I just had one question. I take a vitamin pack (contains a multivitamin, fish oil, calcium, and a few others) is it okay to continue taking all my vitamins? Thanks and I can’t wait to start!

    • That’s wonderful Winnie! If you ever have any questions regarding your health, feel free to email me or follow me on social media 🙂

  14. I found this via the most awesome place ever! PINTREST! Thank you for sharing this plan! I am on day 3 and have already lost a total of 8 lbs so far! Will update when I’m done, but this is with the plan and I also take a cleanse cap at night along with dandelion root caps (3 x a day). The juices and smoothies are really good! I was nervous at first, but did read probably 100 out of the 600 something comments (ha ha) and saw that people liked it and all my questions were answered! I bet people must drive you crazy with the repeat questions that’s already answered lol. Anyway, wanted to say thanks again! Now I’m only 15 lbs from my goal weight woot woot! And… getting my body cleansed out 🙂 pretty awesome.

    • Hi Cj… That’s AWESOME!! Thanks for sharing your results, and I’m so glad you’re seeing such fantastic results! You should’ve emailed me (if you were nervous Lol). And, yes, I wish everyone were like you (read through the comments) 😉 I’m so proud of you and feel free to email me anytime with questions! admin@KaylaChandler.com

  15. Kayla I know you must be swamped with all the people you are helping but is there anyway i could message you by email i have some questions.
I understand if not. Let me know! Thank you for your time 🙂

  16. Hello I’m on my 5 day of this detox and was woundering if it was okay to add a pinch of salt to the dressings or will that affect the detox. I also tried to look at your updated version of the 7 day detox and the link will not let me see it. Is there any other way I can see that. Thanks I still go to sleep very hungry but have stuck to this detox exactly how you have it!!! It’s be hard but have list 9 lbs and that’s what keeps me going;) Thanks!!!

    • Hi Roxana! Congrats on making it to day 5… that’s great! Yes, you can add a pinch of salt, but make sure it’s a very high quality salt, such as celtic sea salt or pink himalayan salt (absolutely no table salt). Regarding the updated version of the detox, enter your email into the top box on my site and it’ll link you to it. If it doesn’t work, feel free to email me directly admin(@)KaylaChandler.com. And, WOW, 9 lbs is wonderful.. congrats!! Keep in mind, if you get hungry, you can make another fat flush smoothie or snack on a piece of fruit (but don’t overdo it). Hope this helps 🙂

  17. I just started the cleanse today and I accidentally Juiced the Fat Flush Smoothie. Do I need to start the cleanse over, or can I move on to day two tomorrow?

  18. Hi Kayla, It’s my first time to challenge detox plan.I haven’t try any detox before.I’m on my day 4 today. So far, i don’t have any headache or other symptoms. I just feel a little bit week and i do a light exercise such as 10 min cross fit every other day.

Can i use your raw mango sweet dressing for the salad?

My mom used to try other detox plan. She experience headache symptom, is there any explanation for people who experience headache when detoxing? Is there any other alternative other than following the 7 day detox clean with 8 day mini cleanse? Before trying your 7 day detox, I usually eliminate processed food, white flour and white rice.

Outside the 7 day detox plan if i crave for salty snacks is there any option to curb the urge to eat unhealthy snack?

    Thank you so much.

    • Hi Liz! Congrats on making it so far in the detox 🙂 Sure. You can use the raw mango sweet dressing. Typically, the more “toxic” your body is, the more severe your detox symptoms will be… this is why older people may have more severe detox symptoms because they’ve lived longer and therefore have accumulated more toxins. This is a very simplified explanation though. If you want further details regarding detox symptoms, feel free to email me: admin@kaylachandler.com As for your salt cravings, your body could be lacking in certain trace minerals, such as iodine. I used to crave salty foods, such as chips and french fries, like CRAZY!! I bought a very high quality celtic sea salt and himalayan pink salt and began to incorporate these salts into my daily meals. Over time, as my body was restored with these trace minerals, my cravings for salty, junk foods started to diminish. I rarely crave salty foods now. Hope this tip helps! 🙂 P.S. Eden foods carries a great celtic sea salt.

      • Thank you Kayla. I usually do not season my food with salt,i only crave for chips but i don’t like my meals to be salty or sweet. I’ve found the himalayan pink salt , will try to incorporate it to my meals.

I shed 7 lbs on my 5th day. Really happy with the results,my skin feels smoother than usual. If I eat your salad recipe with no dressing but i add 1 boiled egg to the salad, is it okay or it’s going to effect too much?

Do you think its okay if I make the next plan like, 5 day detox then follow by 7 day mini cleanse,7 days 1200cal balance meals and back to detox, until i shed all my weight? Its really hard to fight the visceral fat. I used to have personal trainer for about a year in 2012-2013. So the meal pretty much support my activities.

        • Liz.. that’s awesome! Congrats on your awesome results 🙂 Yes, you can add a boiled egg to the salad but no more than one since this is a detox, not a dietary lifestyle. After the cleanse, eating pasture-raised, organic eggs is fine. Please email me your last question regarding further weight loss. This requires a more lengthy answer 🙂 Email: admin@KaylaChandler.com

  19. If i used the detox recipe and made a smoothie instead (added water), will I still get the same results? Also, if after the 7 days, I decided to detox once a day with this smoothie, would that be effective? By the way, I love your blog, so helpful!

    • Hi Holly! Yes, and Yes. The daily juicing and/or smoothie habit is great for maintaining health and continual detox 🙂 And, thank you!!

  20. Hi Kayla,

There doesn’t seem to be much protein in this plan. Pardon me if this is a silly question, but can you not detox with protein powder?

    • Hi Holly! Too much protein and fat can slow down the detox process. Keep in mind, this is not a dietary (long-term) plan. This is a plan to get maximum detox results. Reducing protein for a short period of time (7 days) will not cause much (if any) muscle loss. You can add protein powder to the smoothie recipes if you’d like, but it’s not ideal during a detox. If you feel like protein helps you to stay more “grounded” and/or “focused” then try adding in an amino acid supplement during the detox, such as l-tyrosine or DLPA…. these won’t interfere with detox. Email me if you have more questions or concerns: admin@KaylaChandler.com

  21. Hi! thank you again for the detox! I feel so good after starting it.. my only concern was loosing weight but it seems to be fine when I eat one avocado dayly and the other juices/smoothies according to your plan. it is ok to eat so much avocado? will it not interfere with detox process? thank you 🙂

    • Hi Scarlett.. you’re welcome and I’m glad you’re enjoying the benefits of the detox. Yes, including an avocado per day on the detox to slow down (or completely stop) weight loss is definitely okay. It will not interfere with the detox results.. it’ll only interfere with maximum weight loss during the cleanse, which many people aim for… so, you’re on the right track 🙂

  22. Hi! I’d like to ask a question.I’m on rhe day 3 now,I absolutely love it.I just wonder if there is not too much starch in the morning juice when its written feel rest with carrots.there should be no additional normal water added? Because I juiced like one pound of carrots for that.isn’t that too much? Or can I continue doing it like that? Have a nice day.best regards Linda

    • Hi Linda.. congrats on making it to day 3 🙂 I assume you’re talking about the morning carrot juice mixture. Because this is a juice recipe (not a smoothie which is blended), you’ll want to add nothing but carrots, apples, and ginger to the juicer (no water). Depending on what type of juicer you have (some don’t extract the juice really well), it does usually take at least 1/2 a lb of carrots to reach the minimum amount required (24 oz). Because you’re drinking this on an empty stomach first thing is the morning, it’s going to have a super cleansing effect, especially in the colon. Since you’re not mixing this juice with any fats or proteins, the starch/carbs from the juice shouldn’t be a problem (unless you have a medical issue). In fact, it should give you energy. Feel free to email me directly if you have anymore questions or concerns: admin@KaylaChandler.com

  23. So if I make from all ingredients 16 oz of smoothir I have to put there another 16 oz of water to have 32 oz? although I did it yesterday with very little water I liked it so much haha.
*I did just those 16 oz with little water and divided it for both lunch and dinner.it was kinda filling so I didn’t need anything more.and during the day I drank a lot of water so next time do I have to put there anothere 16 oz of water?

  24. ah, one more question.. can I switch the days with recepies.. I mean can I do for example day 5 instead of day 2 and then the 5th day do the juices that are supposed to be for day 2?

  25. Hi! I´d like to ask if the ingredients above for the smoothie are just for 16 oz or 32? thank you in advance. I did those ingredients for 16 oz and I´m not sure if it was right. will it be a problem if not? thank you for your reply 🙂

    • Hi Carla.. to answer both of our questions.. 1) the smoothie should yield about 32 oz… add more water to ensure it reaches this amount. 2) Yes, you can mix up the days without it affecting the results 🙂

      • So if I make from all ingredients 16 oz of smoothir I have to put there another 16 oz of water to have 32 oz? although I did it yesterday with very little water I liked it so much haha.

        • It’s not necessary to add that much water but most people like it because it thins out the consistency. If you like the thicker consistency with less water, then that’s fine 🙂

  26. Can I do this detox fewer days? I’m too thin but my eating habits were a bit bad lately so I wanted to cleanse my body before I switch to healtier life style.I saw also 3days juice fasts but I like yours the most that’s why I wonder If I can do just 3 first days or so.thank you for reply

    • Hi Scarlett.. absolutely you can. If you’re worried about losing too much weight, you can always add in more calories by eating a bigger salad, having an extra smoothie, or by snacking in between meals on fresh fruits and veggies (and even avocados). This will still allow your body to detox without resulting in much weight loss 🙂

  27. I am starting my juice diet tomorrow! I am in college and have been making poor decisions regarding my eating habits!! I thought this juice cleanse would be great to get a fresh start and hopefully after the week is done help me make better decisions regarding my eating habits!! Any tips?? Can I add fiber to the smoothies? I started the freshman 5 (not yet 15lbs) so I am hoping in the process to also loose that 5 lbs asap.

    • Hi Emma.. That’s great! Doing a 7-day detox will help to reset your tastebuds so that after the cleanse, you don’t crave as many unhealthy foods. The smoothies themselves already contain lots of fiber; however, if you want to add even more, a few good options are: 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds, 1-2 tbsp psyllium husk, or just add in more leafy greens than the recipe calls for. Also, if you get hungry between meals, it’s okay to snack on fresh fruits (don’t over do it though). Decaf herbal teas are also allowed… they’re really helpful in controlling junk food cravings. If you have any questions, feel free to email me directly: admin@KaylaChandler.com

    • Hi Mildred!.. If you get hungry in between the 3 main meals/shakes, it’s okay to snack on fresh fruit and/or veggies. If you get really hungry, go ahead and make yourself another fat flush smoothie. Also, drinking decaf herbal teas tend to help curb your appetite, especially if you’re craving junk food. Be sure to drink plenty of fresh/filtered water too! 🙂

    • Pears are a good option. If you want it to be sweeter, then bananas or mangos are also great options. Pineapple works well too (especially for detox).

  28. I am only on day 1 and I am finding these hard to swollow, they just taste aweful after awhile. Is there anything I can add or do to make it easier to do this or does it get easier.

    • Hi Sandra.. I’m assuming you’re referring to the smoothies/juices that are difficult to swallow. For the fat flush smoothie, try adding in 1 frozen banana. Another option would be to add more water or coconut water to thin out the texture. Email me directly if you’re having issues with the juice as well (most people do not): admin@KaylaChandler.com

  29. I started the cleanse today and that fat flushing smoothie was horrible. However I was able to swallow it down. I had one question, can I add egg to the salad?

    • Hey Amanda! For the fat flush smoothie, try adding in 1 frozen banana. Another option would be to add more water or coconut water to thin out the texture. For the salad, I do not recommend adding an egg; however, if you do, keep it to one per salad. Feel free to email me directly if you have anymore questions: admin@KaylaChandler.com

  30. I just started the cleanse, but I am kind of addicted to sparkling water, like Le Croix. Can I drink sparkling water while on the cleanse?

  31. This is soooo awesome! I had a baby 8 months ago and am working on losing the weight now. So now I’ve been looking for a cleanse to detox and also lose weight. But it doesn’t look like I can do this one while breast feeding, is that right? Thanks so much for this!

    • Hi Whitney.. thank you so much! I do recommend waiting to do this detox after you finish breastfeeding. During a detox, your body may release the toxins from your fat cells into the bloodstream before exiting the body. So, I wouldn’t risk it. 🙂

  32. Hi,

I have been doing this cleanse for 3 days but i have been drinking fat flush juice instead of smoothie. Can i still get good results and loose weight or shall i start over i am flight attendant i have only 5 days on ground is it ok if i do it for 5 days? It is impossible to prepare smoothie on board? Thank you for your help

    • Hi Grace.. Absolutely you can still get great results! Feel free to replace one of the juice recipes with a smoothie on another day to make up for it (if possible). 5 days is better than 0 days! 🙂 As long as you have some sort of blender (a nutri bullet would be great for your situation) and electricity, you should be able to prep the smoothies on board. Also, just FYI, this cleanse is safe enough to do for 5 days, take off a week, then do another 5 days to maximize your results.

  33. Hi!
Sorry if this has been asked but there was just so many comments lol. So I started the cleanse today and I’m really excited about it, the only thing I struggled with was the fat flush smoothie. The taste was tolerable but the texture was too much and I had trouble getting it down :/ do you have any suggestions for this? I thought about adding a ton more water to make it really liquidy would that work?

    • Hey Cassidy!.. Yes, it’s definitely okay to add more water to make the consistency more thin. Another option would be to use coconut water instead of regular water to make it taste better 🙂 If you still find that you can’t stomach it, feel free to add 1 frozen banana to the mix. This shouldn’t effect your results much. Good luck! And, feel free to email me directly with other questions or concerns: admin@KaylaChandler.com

  34. Hi!! I WILL START DAY 1 TOMORROW,I HAVE QUESTION
CAN I PUT SOME CHIA SEED WITH JUICE?? DURING THE DAY POSSIBLE TO DRINK GREEN COFFEE TEA? AFTER 7 DAYS POSSIBLE TO REPEAT AGAIN? DURING DETOX POSSIBLE TO TAKE VITAMIN? IF I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT CAN I TAKE GARCINIA? THANK YOU VERY MUCH \(^_^\)

    • Hi Tanya! I wouldn’t recommend adding chia seeds to the juice because it wouldn’t blend well. However, if you feel you need the extra fat and protein, then try soaking the seeds overnight in some almond or coconut milk. This makes them MUCH easier to digest and absorb (google: chia pudding). Otherwise, I would suggest leaving them out for the 7 days of detoxifying. Although fat/chia seeds are great for you, too much fat can slow down the detox process. So, only eat them if you’re truly hungry 🙂 Any decaf herbal teas are okay. No coffee during the cleanse. Yes, vitamins are okay. I would wait at least 2 weeks in between the detoxes. Or, you can go directly into my 8-day mini cleanse (http://www.kaylachandler.com/downloads/8-day-mini-cleanse-ebook/) after finishing the 7-day detox for better results. A good rotation would be: 7-day detox followed by 8-day mini cleanse; break for a couple of weeks; repeat cycle until all weight is lost. I do not recommend most garcinia supplements because most are full of fillers and only contain a very small percentage of the active ingredient. The only weight loss supplement I recommend currently (for appetite control) is this Hoodia supplement from therawfoodworld.com (http://goo.gl/DCiCsB). I’ve used it in the past to see if it really works for appetite control and it does. It contains a very high percentage of the active ingredient unlike many others. Hope this info helps! 35. Hi,
Thanks for this detox plan! I would like to know if it’s ok to make a soup instead of the smoothie? (using the same ingredients)

  36. Hey! I just bought all the ingredients for the juices, can I cut all of them and put them in a ziplock bag and store them in the freezer and when it’s time just take them out and blend them into the blender? Is that okay?

  37. Hi, I’m on day 4 and it has been great. Is this detox ok for a 15 yr old girl? Also I have another question: The Detox Juice includes parsley, but in the juicer it comes out just the same as it went in. I’ve got Jack Lalanne’s Power Juicer. Is it better to blend parsley with the juice once it’s ready?

    • Hi Tatiana! When juicing herbs, it really depends on how good your juicer is at extracting the liquids. If you’re unable to get any juice from the parsley with the juicer you currently have, then you could always blend it (as you mentioned). However, it may taste a little weird 😉

  38. Hi!!! I need to do this cleanse! Haha need some detox after a long week of vacation(aka overeating and drinking) :). Is there something I can use to replace the ginger?
Thanks for posting this cleanse! I am excited to start! Also, for the salads… Do you have to use one of those dressings?

    • Hi Sass! I totally understand needing to detox after a vacay! 😉 The ginger is a key ingredients; however, if you can’t stomach it, add extra lemon juice to the mix. Email me for further dressing recommendations: Admin@KaylaChandler.com

  39. Hello Kayla,
thanks for the detox. i m on day 4 started to feel a bit better. little headache but nothing compared to the first days.
as many of the people following a detox, i m wondering to to properly break my detox without wasting all the efforts.
can you kindly advise or give me a plan for the post detox.
    much appreciated

      • Hi Kayla, just want to share with u some good news. I m on day 6 and I do far lost 3 kg. I m so proud cause I was struggling to get back to my prepregnancy weight. Those last 3 kg were really hard to lose.thanks again. I ll follow ur recommendations post detox

        • Siham.. that’s fantastic!! Awesome job! Stay in touch and email me anytime you need more suggestions or have any questions 🙂

  40. Hi on the bottom On the bottom of the page of mod wedding it shows a tea but does not say where to find it or buy it any help would be most appreciated thanks

  41. starting this cleanse today. I have tried to read previous posts to find out if I am supposed to add the whole lemon or peel it first. Please help!

    • Hi Janine.. if it’s an organic lemon, it’s okay to juice the whole lemon. If not, then peel it before juicing. But, anytime you are adding lemon to a smoothie (blending), always peel it first.

  42. Hello Kayla, came across your detox on Pinterest and I was super excited to take part in the 7 day detox. I’m on day 2. So far so good. However I noticed after taking my carrot juice this morning I was feeling a bit nauseated after working out, is that normal? Thanks for this detox, it’s super.

    • Hi Ayodele!.. Were you doing intense exercise, such as running or heavy weights? If so, I would suggest only doing moderate (or zero) exercise during a detox. The reason being is because you’re already detoxifying with the foods you’re consuming. If you add intense exercising to the mix, it will speed up detoxification, which may cause too many toxins to be in the bloodstream at one time. This can increase your detox symptoms (sometimes to the point where it’s unbearable), such as headaches, migraines, nausea, fatigue, sore throat, etc. So, for this week only, I would suggest only taking walks and performing strength exercises without weights. After the detox, you can go back to your original routine. 🙂

      • Infact Kayla you are a genius. Indeed my workout was intense and I was experiencing headaches, fatigue, sore throat in addition to the nausea. I’ll most definitely take things slow. It’s just that I can’t do without my workouts, lol. Thanks for the advice. Will definitely keep you posted.

  43. Thanks again, also I was wondering my boyfriend and I are on day 5 however we have a dinner to go to tonight and was wondering if a salad was ok tonight instead if a fat flush or if that will greatly affect our results?

  44. Hi Kayla ,
I’m on day 4 , feeling great however today I wasn’t able to finish my fat flush or salad is that normal? I got mostly halfway through felt pretty full , I plan to continue the full 7 days

    • Hi Amanda.. yes, this can be normal for some people. It may also be because you’re not eliminating the toxins (from cleansing) fast enough. If you’ve not eliminated in 1-2 days, I recommend drinking some warm herbal tea throughout the day or even an herbal laxative tea to help the bowels move faster 🙂 Email me if this doesn’t help: admin@KaylaChandler.com

  45. Hello Kayla,

I’ m in my 4th day and I’m not a DRESSING person. Could I use just lemon & sea salt (not much) in the salads? I saw the other 6 dressing recipes you have but I can’t with either of them. Actually yesterday I tried the Low Fat Red Pepper and I could’t eat a 1/4 of the bowl.
Please let me know so I can keep going with the 7 day protocol, otherwise I think that I’m not gonna be able to finish it 🙁
    Thanks

    • Hi Vanessa.. The calories will depend on if you snack on fresh fruits in between meals (which are allowed) as well as how active you are. The more active you are, I recommend doubling each recipe for more energy. Some also make an extra fat flush smoothie to snack on instead of fruits. So, a range would be anywhere from 1300-2000+ depending on the things just mentioned. If you have more questions, feel free to write me directly: admin@KaylaChandler.com 🙂

  46. Hi, I think you already answered this before,I just couldn’t find it….can I use pineapples or oranges to substitute the apple? I ran out of apples lol

  47. Good day. I’ve started the cleanse this morning. I have a questio, sorry if its been asked before, but can I drink any herbal unsweatened teas? Its winter where I live and I need hot drinks during the day.
    Thank you

  48. Hello. 1st and foremost, thank you for these amazing tips!! I’ve been inspired to lead a healthier life and I’m excited to have a fresh start with these delicious juices!! I’m on day three and I do have a question/concern for you. When eating my salad, I had 4 bites and I couldn’t eat anymore. Is this normal?? Thanks!!

    • Cristie.. You can make the smoothie recipes a day or two in advance without losing much of the nutrition or flavor (just be sure to shake it up really well before drinking). As far as the juice recipes, I would recommend making it the day of or the night before because they will oxidize much quicker. If you decide to make the juice recipe the night before, be sure to juice 1/2 of a lemon with it. The lemon will act as a natural preservative. If the lemon is organic, go ahead and juice it with the skin intact. If not, then remove the skin before juicing it. Feel free to email me if you have anymore questions: admin@KaylaChandler.com

  49. So sorry for the novice question but….the juice is ran through my juicer but the smoothie, is that ran through my blender?

  50. Hi Kayla,i have a question…is it better to make your juice or smoothie fresh same day and drink it…or can you store it over night in the fridge…i dont know if it will lose its nutrients….and you say make 32oz and the smoothie is 16oz…so im not sure if you can store it over night or drink the whole 32oz on the smoothies as well….thank you!!

    • Brenda.. You can make the smoothie recipes a day or two in advance without losing much of the nutrition or flavor (just be sure to shake it up really well before drinking). • Hi Ang! Doing a 7-day detox (or anything for 7 days) will not affect your metabolism long term. Plus, there are many things that affect one’s metabolism, such as exercise, diet, environmental toxins, etc. What one should be more concerned about (IMO) is how toxins in the body affect metabolism.. Or, things that one does on a long term basis, such as adhering to a low calorie diet. These sorts of things have a much bigger impact on your metabolism in the long-run. If anything, a 7-day detox will help to eliminate some of those toxins and, as a result, help to increase your metabolism in the long-run as your body becomes cleaner. Feel free to email me at admin@KaylaChandler.com for references 😉 Great question, btw!

  51. Day 5…I feel more bloated than when I started , very disappointed…I followed it to the t…Never doing this again

    • Hi Irina.. What’s important to understand is that when doing a detox, sometimes your body is detoxifying faster than your body (i.e. colon) can eliminate the toxins and, as a result, can cause temporary bloating. This bloating is not a permanent effect. The best thing to do when this happens is to either A) perform a water enema, or B) Drink an herbal laxative tea (Smooth Move is a good one). But, don’t give up. Temporary bloating is only a sign that your body is trying to eliminate those excess toxins. 🙂

  52. Wow, there are a lot of questions on here. I tried reading them, but there are so many, so please forgive me if I’m repeating a question.
So I understand the carrot Juice and the Detox juice are juiced using a juicer, but is the smoothie also a juice or is it an actual smoothie that you make in a blender or vita mix….I have a juicer and the nutribullet. I just want to make sure I do it the right way to get the best effect.

    • Hi Kerri.. that’s totally fine! Yes, the smoothie recipes are prepared using a high speed blender. The nutribullet should be fine for the smoothie recipes. It’s what my mom uses. 😉

  53. I just start the 7 days detox and i want to know the average of the weight lost in this period.
Also would you please give more details about after those 7 days which kind of food i will adopt.
    Thanks

  54. Hi Kayla, I found your detox 7 day cleanse on pintrest and fell in love with it I have one question will this 7 day detox also help you lose weight well 2 questions is this a juicer and smoothie detox,,,thank you so much for posting your awesome tips on everything imaginable I look forward from hearing from you and following your wonderful recipes on pintrest….thank you so much!!

    • Hi Brenda! Thank you so much! This detox includes both juices and smoothies as well as a detox salad on some days. Be sure to enter your name at the top of my blog, and I’ll email you the official PDF version of the detox. Also, I can’t say it’ll help everyone lose weight; however, most people do lose weight on this detox. And, this is simply because by detoxifying your body, your body releases toxins from fat cells which, as a result, help to shrink the fat cells (most toxins are stored in fat cells). Email me anytime with further questions admin@KaylaChandler.com

  55. Also! The fat flush says smoothie…is it supposed to be a juice or a smoothie because other comments say that a juicer is best..a little confused there.

  56. Hello, i will be starting this tomorrow, but my question is, i dont have a juicer so can i just blend the ingredients to make like a smoothie/ shake type of drink instead? and what about adding a little protein powder?

  57. Hi, I was wondering if I could substitute the apples as I am allergic to them, also to pears which is a really pain. Would you recommend just topping up others???

    • Hi Stacey.. You can replace apples with more bananas in the smoothie recipes or any other high water fruit, such as pineapple, mango, grapes, etc.

  58. I was wondering could any of these drinks be pre-made like the if i made the lunch drink before i left for work would it still be good by lunch time (4 hours after being made)

    • Hi Ray.. Absolutely. Any of the juice or smoothie recipes can be made that morning and still be fine to drink later in the day. For the juices, it’s best to prepare the day of while the smoothies can be made 2 days in advance without affecting the taste/results too much.

  59. What exactly are we not allowed to eat after the detox for a while? I’m already in the fourth day and I was wonderimg If I can eat baked chicken afterwards and what kind of healthy sweets can I eat because unfortunately I’m a candy lover person and I kinda miss them. I’ve seen some remarkable results and just in the fourth day!

  60. Today is my 3th day of detoxing, I really feel not hungry as much as before. I ise 3 dates the most, it helps a lot for my sugar craving and hungry much. I also used cabbage sometime because I did not have enough lettis, I drink lemon water most of the time to metabolized faster. My question is Caarot juice one of my friend says that carrot juice is not very good for brain cells. Is that true? And she also says if I want to carrots to work well drop couple of olive oil to the juice. Thank you very much sharing this with us. Oh also in last 2 pound so far..

  61. Hi Kayla sorry about miss understanding your name. I wrote Rose. My question is sugarbcraving is that ok eating dates? And other questions is green tea? Is that ok?

  62. Hi Rose, I started this detox today, but my sugar craving is very bad. What can I do to get red off it. Do you think I can use one dates?

  63. Hi, I started detox yesterday. I couldn’t find romaine lettuce anywhere nearby, so I used cabbage instead. I read that the cabbage is a good alternative for the romaine lettuce. Is that true? Or, is there any other alternative for the romaine lettuce that I could use.

    Thank you!

    • Cabbage is fine. You could also substitute with extra spinach, curly lettuce, red leaf lettuce, arugula, or watercress. 🙂

  64. my boyfriend and I are planning on trying this cleanse but I have a couple questions. When making the dressing, am I going to just blend all of the ingredients? And when using lemon while juicing, should I just use the flesh of the lemon or the rind as well?

    • Hi Kim.. Yes, ingredients for the salad dressing should be blended in a blender until smooth. When juicing the lemon, you should juice the flesh only if the lemon is organic. If it’s not organic, then you’ll want to peel the lemon first to avoid ingesting any possible pesticides. 🙂

  65. Hey Kayla,

Thanks so much for putting together all this great information! On day 2, detox symptoms (headaches, tiredness) aren’t quite so strong today – yesterday was pretty rough.

I’ve just finished reading through the comments, and could not find the questions or answers that I’m looking for, so thought I’d drop them here for you…

    1. The Detox Juice: your ingredients say parsley OR cilantro, but would it be a bad idea to put some of each into it (since they both aid in detox and chelation)?

    2. I realize you mentioned above “I tried to keep the number of ingredients for this cleanse as simple as possible without affecting the results.” Since turmeric, onion, and garlic have such great detoxing/antioxidant-fighting properties, is it possible to include them in the juices and smoothies?

One more thing, you have a little box (on the right, near the top) that says Read More About Kayla. However, when I click on it, it just takes me to your main homepage. I’m really interested in reading more about you… what’s your story – what lead you to develop your protocol?

    Thanks again!!

    • Hi Susan! You’re doing awesome so far on the cleanse. The first few days are ALWAYS the most difficult 🙂 So, congrats on making it this far! Here’s the answers to your questions…
      1) It’s absolutely okay to put both cilantro and parsley in the detox juice. Most people can’t tolerate that many herbs (taste-wise). But, if you can, then go for it! I noticed you mentioned chelation.. are you trying to chelate from heavy metals? If so, email me details admin@kaylachandler.com as I’m pretty familiar with the process.
      2) Absolutely! Many people are on budgets, so they can’t afford to include loads of ingredients in their juices/smoothies. I wanted to maximize detox results with a fairly small amount of ingredients so it’ll appeal to everyone. However, adding turmeric (especially), onion, and garlic will only enhance your detox results.
      3) I’ve been meaning to get around to writing my Bio… I’ll move that up to the top of my To-Do List 😉

Good Luck Susan and keep me posted on your results 🙂

  66. Comments about the juice: I can’t stand lemons but in the smoothies, the honey makes it bearabl . Drinking these smoothies is like seeing, smelling, and tasting the garden section at home depot. I can only imagine what my face might look like when I drink them .

    • Are you adding enough water to the smoothies to balance it out? Be sure to add about 2 cups of water or coconut water to each smoothie. Also, I’m not sure what you’re asking exactly.. please clarify 🙂

  67. Um on these salads, there is no cheese or nuts or meat on them am I right? Also I’m wondering about protein powder being added because my mom is concerned – like all good moms :). Thank you so much for this diet. Its exactly what I expected a juice cleanse to be like, I’m starting as soon as possible and I am exited.

    • Hi Bree! You are correct. Cheese, nuts, and meat will slow down the detox process. For maximum detox effects, you want to ingest high water, high fiber, and nutrient dense foods. This is not a long term dietary lifestyle… this is a cleanse/detox. The reason we do not include high protein foods (including protein powders) during a detox is because high protein can also hinder the detox process. Additionally, most popular protein powders are very processed. But, keep in mind that many fruits and veggies contain trace amounts of protein (how do you think cows get so big eating only grass?) 😉 Again, this is a 7 day detox, not a dietary lifestyle, so reducing your protein intake is not going to “kill” you 😉 Protein deficiency is very uncommon. One should worry more about becoming deficient in vitamins and minerals rather than protein. Hope this helps!

  68. Thank you for clarifying that. That’s what I thought , however, reading through The comments I thought I saw you mentioning to juice rather than blend.
I prefer the “smoothies” juiced as I can really stomach the smoothies. Can I just continue to juice the smoothies? I’m on day 5 today. Thank you!

  69. hi, I have another question for you. I have read throughout the comments that you suggest juicing everything in a juicer rather than a blender. Than I also read that you say to use a blender for the smoothie part. I’m on my 4th day dinner time and I have been juicing everything. Is that ok? Or should I be blending the smoothie parts of the detox? Thank you

    • Hi Agatha.. Just to clarify.. anywhere a recipe is labeled a smoothie, the ingredients should be blended in a blender. If it’s labeled a juice, the ingredients should be juiced through a juicer 🙂 If you’ve been juicing everything, you’ll still yield great results (if not better). So, that’s not a big deal. But, moving forward, be sure to blend the ingredients when it’s labeled as a ‘smoothie.’ Hope this helps!

    • Hi Agatha!.. I’m not a doctor so I can make medical suggestions. I would consult with the doctor who put you on these antibiotics first. My opinion would be to wait until you get off of these antibiotics before moving forward with a cleanse. Be sure to repopulate your good bacteria with probiotics when coming off of these antibiotics 🙂

  70. Hi Kayla….on day 2 of cleanse……can I chew sugar free gum at all? I find the chewing sensation curbs my hunger lol.

    • Hi Christa! Gum shouldn’t effect the weight loss results much; however, it may effect the detox results. When detoxifying, one should remove all toxins, chemicals, processed foods, etc. (as much as possible). Most gums contain artificial colors, flavors, and other questionable ingredients. So, I wouldn’t suggest chewing gum unless you can find an organic/natural gum. 🙂

  71. Love this cleanse! On Day 5 and feeling great thank you : )

Any chance you have nutritional facts for each item? Wanting to log these into MyFitness Pal app.

    Thanks

    • Hi Joel! So sorry for the late reply.. I’ve been away from my computer for a few days. For the basic cleanse protocol, the numbers range from 12-1400 calories depending on the size of fruits, etc. Fruit snacks are allowed so this can also increase calories. And, for more active people, I recommend doubling the size of each recipe. So, the calories can range anywhere from 1200-2000+ calories depending on how many fruit snacks you allow as well as on which recipes one may double.

    • Hi Grace.. you can use ginger powder; however, it won’t have as much of a detoxifying effect as the fresh juice from the root. Try 1/2-1 whole lemon in place of the ginger. The lemon will provide more detoxifying effects than the ginger powder. If you can find organic lemons, then juice the skin and all. If you can’t find organic lemons, be sure to peel the skin from the lemon before juicing it since most conventional lemons have been sprayed with pesticides 🙂

  72. Hi!! I’m on day 2 of the detox and I just have a question. I saw a few comments that said to stay near a restroom and a few where people have ended up feeling bloated. I don’t feel bloated or constipated but the “bathroom trips” per say haven’t started yet. I have 1 more shake for the evening and that’s my 6th shake. I’m not a fan of laxatives or enemas but we live in hawaii and have some plans for the weekend(ie zoo and hiking) and I Want to make sure I will be able to do those things without having to rush to find a bathroom or the worst case scenario hahah! Any kind of feedback helps. I’m still feeling groggy a bit but I’m hoping it passes. So far no headaches. But I am working out on top of the detox so that’s probably why. But I AM playing it safe! Thank you so much!

    • Hi Krystal.. that’s great! Hopefully I’m not too late in writing you back. If you’re not feeling bloated and really want to lessen the times you go to the bathroom (#1 and #2), then it’s kind of hard while on a detox being that the whole purpose is to excrete toxins from the body via the colon and kidney 😉 I would say cut back on the detox and start it back up when you finish the weekend plans 🙂

  73. I don’t have a juicer? Will this still work if I blend with water? And no food for the 7 days at all, just water? I am excited to try this! Thanks!

    • The juices are an important aspect to this cleanse; however, you can blend with water and drink the juice recipes as a smoothie (if that’s your only option). It’s definitely better than not doing the cleanse at all. Another option if you don’t have a juicer is to blend the ingredients with water and strain the juice via a nut milk bag, a very fine mesh strainer, or a triple-layered cheese cloth. 🙂

  74. Hi can I do in between snacks?? If so what kind of snacks are best to eat? Is it better to use a juicer or can I use one of those smoothie machines to blend all together. Please email I think I’ll get it faster. I’m starting this detox Monday. I’ve been on a diet working out but lately my body has been graving process food. I read how you said doing this detox your body will start graving healthier foods. I really need that. I’ve lost 50 pounds & have 26 more pounds to go. I would hate to start over because I can’t get it together. Please write be back as soon as you can.

  75. Hi,
I am starting this detox on Monday but I was wondering if for the salad I would be able to cook vegetables before putting them in. Such as asparagus, broccoli and cauliflower.
    Thank you

  76. Just a question about protein. Is there any in this detox? I don’t see where there is, but what can I do about that? Thanks!

    • Hi Haley.. keep in mind that this is a detox, not a dietary lifestyle. Protein slows down detox, which is why there’s not a concentrated source of protein, such as animal products or animal derivatives. 🙂

  77. Hi! I have decided to do this detox and have a shopping list planned out but I was wondering if I could snack on fruits like a banana or blueberries if I’m feeling a little hungry?

    • Absolutely! A cup of fruit mid-morning or afternoon is okay 🙂 Also, just FYI, decaf herbal teas are fine too.

  78. I am wrapping up Day 7. Wow, I followed everything exactly, and have lost 7 lbs! I never felt horribly starving. That salad on Day 3 was so good! I am wondering how I can keep the weight coming off, while eating some solid food. I quit smoking a year and a half ago and consequently gained 50 lbs over a year and a half. I ate “clean” for a few months, and worked out, but the weight would not go down. I tried your 7 Day Detox in desperation to reboot my metabolism!! Finally, the weight is dropping. But, I want to keep it going. Advice?

    • Wow Sheron.. that’s wonderful! Sometimes our bodies need that “jumpstart” to really kick it in gear 😉 Please email me admin(@)kaylachandler.com and I’ll provide further info for you 🙂

  79. I loved this detox. I modified it a little bit to help me at work. I work 12 hr days (3days a week). I juiced for breakfast, ate a LARGE salad for lunch and juiced for dinner. I still had energy on the days that I worked and I lost about 7lbs with this. I never felt tired or like I needed any coffee to perk me up.
I have made a shopping list for me to use when I go to the store. The night before I start my detox I made the entire weeks worth of juice and freezed them in mason jars (freeze with lid off then put lid on or jars will break. learned that the hard way)then I pull out what I want for the next day and defrost and pour them into plastic travel cups. I did this detox for the first time about 2 months ago and I have been able to stay off coffee for the most part I still have a cup or 2 a week. and I have been able to maintain my weight. I am going to start another modified version of this detox but I will allow myself proteins like chicken and nuts.

Thank you for this guide 🙂

    • Wonderful feedback Kira and congrats on the weight loss! The freezing idea was terrific.. hopefully some of the others reading your comment will benefit from that tip! Being able to cut back on the coffee as well as maintaining your weight is great news too.. this is what I try to “preach” to people regarding cleanses/detoxes.. they help to reset your tastebuds to crave healthier foods and each time you do a cleanse, the better the results (in terms of wanting to live a healthier lifestyle). Even if you want to add in more proteins (like you mentioned), you could still benefit drastically by having the smoothie and/or juice for breakfast and dinner and having your protein for lunch. Just be sure to not go too wild on the nuts though. They’re great for you but in moderation. One thing that helps me tremendously when it comes to eating healthy is to ensure I drink at least 3 quarts of water per day.. this counts the 32 oz worth of juice I drink too. So, for instance, when I first wake up, I drink 32 oz of water. Then, 32 oz of juice or smoothie for breakfast. Then, the other 32 oz of water throughout the rest of the day. This is my minimum requirement for water and it works wonders in terms of not craving “cheat” foods. Keep up the awesome work and keep us posted 🙂

    • I recommend only using the serving size listed. You could always use half of the serving size when making the salad dressing if you really want to eat the other half of the avocado whole (on the salad). However, if adding more avocado than recommended is the only way you can stick to the plan, then that would be better than quitting all together 🙂

    • For optimal results, stick to the exact guide. However, if it’s impossible for you to drink liquids all day (on the days that require all liquids), then it’s better to have the salad every night of the detox than to not do the detox at all 🙂

    • Hi! Unfortunately, I am not allowed to instruct you on this. You would need to consult with your doctor before beginning any new dietary change (even if it’s temporary). Having said that, I’ve not had any one report issues in this area after doing this detox. 🙂

  80. thank you for the respond about nutribullet so I went and bought a nutribullet juicer much better cant wait to see the result after 7 days first day today

    • Have you tried ginger in a juice recipe? It taste much different than when eating it whole. Ginger is very important to the recipe because of its detoxifying and healing properties. However, if there’s no way you can tolerate it, I would suggest turmeric root (not the powder) or an extra lemon. 🙂

    • Hi Brenda.. A nutribullet is a high speed blender, not a juice extractor. So, for the smoothie recipes, yes, the nutribullet is okay. However, for the juice recipes, you would use a juicer (juice extractor). If you do not have a juicer, you can blend the ingredients with water in your nutribullet then strain the juice via a nutmilk bag or layered cheesecloth.

    • I’m not sure exactly what your question is… Yes, both a blender and juicer are needed for these recipes; however, if you do not have a juicer, you can blend the ingredients and strain the juice via a nutmilk bag or layered cheesecloth.

  81. Hi Kayla, I am going to start this detox next week for the first time. Excited to about the results.

I found the fun fact very interesting. I am curious though. If my body is storing the toxins into fat cells to protect my organs, do the toxins get exposed to the organs when the fat cells are burned? Harming the organs, just the same?

    • Hi Mila.. very good question and one that I also wondered about when beginning the cleansing lifestyle. Because you are on a “cleansing” style eating plan during the detox (i.e. high fiber), when your body begins to release toxins into the blood, your body is smart enough to know to send those toxins to be released via any of your exit organs (i.e. colon, etc.). Once these toxins hit your colon to be released, you’ll be ingesting enough fiber to ensure proper elimination. The two go hand-in-hand really.. the same foods that encourage your body to detox itself are also the same foods that are prepared to ensure those toxins exit safely (i.e. raw fruits and veggies). Hope this helps! 🙂

  82. I’m on day 3 of the cleanse asks I feel great! Not headaches, I’m not hungry, I feel great! I have least 4lbs and I wanted to know If it’s normal to gain some of it back, or all?

    • That’s great Dayan! As long as you continue to eat mostly healthy, clean, whole foods after the cleanse, you shouldn’t gain back much or any at all (maybe a couple pounds of water weight). But, what you have to realize is that the more offending foods (i.e. processed foods, dairy, gluten, etc.) you eat, the more water weight you’re body will hold on to, especially if you have a sensitivity to these foods (many people do without realizing it). So, as long as you can keep these offending foods out of your diet the majority of the time, you shouldn’t gain back much (or any) water weight. Any fat loss during this cleanse should stay off as well. The long term goal here is to reset your taste buds while cleansing your body so when coming off of the cleanse, you crave healthier foods 🙂 Here’s something I used to tell myself when I first began eating healthier: Eat foods as close to the way God made them as possible (for instance, homemade baked potato chips are okay, not processed chips w/ a mile long ingredients list).. Hope this info helps! 🙂

  83. Hey Kayla,
I’m on day 3 of my detox and cleanse and so far everything is going pretty well. I’m down just over 3 pounds however, I already struggle with “going to the bathroom” and Ive only gone 1 time since I started and my stomach is so bloated. Is there anything I can do that won’t alter my results to get some relief?

    Thanks!

    • Congrats Theresa!! That’s great. Here are two things that’ll definitely give you relief: 1) Do a water enema (if you have an enema kit) or 2) Drink some Smooth Move Laxative Tea. Most health food stores carry laxative teas. The tea will take about 8 hours to work though. But, it definitely works if the first option (water enema) isn’t an option for you. Sometimes when your body is detoxifying quickly, it can cause a build up of waste and your body may need some assistance in speeding up the elimination process 🙂

    • Hi Dayan!.. I recommend starting off with my 8-Day Mini Cleanse if you’re a beginner at cleansing. http://www.kaylachandler.com/downloads/8-day-mini-cleanse-ebook/
It was just released this week, and my friend (whom I tested a similar protocol on a few months ago) has lost 33 lbs in 2 1/2 months. My suggestion is to start with the 8-Day Mini Cleanse as a way to ease into the cleansing lifestyle (with minor detox symptoms) and then go straight into the 7-Day Detox (listed here) for a more intense cleanse.

    • Hi Barbara.. since this isn’t a 100% liquid detox, you can begin eating clean, whole foods (including light meats) within 1-2 days of coming off of this cleanse. The reason many cleanses require “easing” back into eating foods that are harder to digest is because you haven’t eaten any whole foods while on the cleanse. Since this cleanse still includes whole foods, you can begin eating light meats within 1-2 days.

    • Hi Vanessa! Honestly, it’s impossible to say because every one is different. The more overweight one is, the more they will lose. It’s important to remember that this is a cleanse, not a quick weight loss gimmick (even though most do lose weight). A cleanse is more of a jumpstart to living a healthy lifestyle. It helps to remove a large amount of toxins in a short period of time while also resetting your tastebuds, so when coming off of the cleanse you’ll most likely crave healthier foods. Even if you lose 10 lbs, it’s useless if you go back to eating junk. I’ve had people report anywhere from 5-15 lbs lost though… just to answer your question 😉

    • He can use oranges, grapefruit, pears, watermelon, or any other high water fruit. Low water fruits, such as bananas, cantaloupe, honeydew, etc., won’t yield enough liquid to produce 32oz worth of juice.

    • Hi Jenni! I wouldn’t recommend it because too much protein can hinder the cleansing process. The important thing to remember is that this is a cleanse, not a weight loss diet (even though most people do lose weight). I would suggest having another fat flush smoothie or a bowl of fruit in between meals if you get hungry.

    • Hi Mary.. I totally understand. I recommend including fruits in between meals as a snack or including an extra fat flush smoothie. Also, be sure to submit your email (at the top of my site) to stay tuned for my upcoming 8-Day Mini Cleanse. I designed it for people just like you who have busy and active lifestyles 🙂

  84. Hello! I’m this detox again- starting tomorrow, but this time with my hubby. YAY! I have a few questions before starting-
    1) last time I asked you if I could have a cup of coffee in the morning to help with the headaches (which was a life saver and you said yes, a small cup) and I would add stevia to the black coffee- my hubby wants to know if he can add coconut milk to the coffee and no stevia instead?
    2) Since my hubby works outside of the home, can he have one of the juices as a snack (before and after lunch) to hold him up and if yes, which on please?
    3) Can the plan be changed up- in other words, for day 3, 4, 6, and 7, can we/he have 1/2 a smoothie and 1/2 a salad for lunch and for dinner? or can we have the salad for lunch and the smoothie for dinner?
Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions…HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND

    • Hi again Maria 🙂 So sorry for the late reply.. Hopefully, I can still be of assistance. Here’s the answers to your questions:
      1) Yes, but no more than 1/2 a Cup total so it doesn’t drastically interfere with the cleansing results.
      2) Yes, most certainly! Either juice is okay.
      3) Yes, the meals & days can be switched up as long as you stick to he recipes listed. The only thing I suggest NOT changing is the morning juice. It’s very important to drink the morning juice on an empty stomach for max absorption.
Let me know how it goes! 🙂

      • Hi Kayla!
Update: my hubby and I both did the detox together and it was a success! so much that we now juice in the morning as a breakfast. I purchased via eBay the Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Multi Speed 850-Watt Juice Extractor that he suggested here on your blog. Its a juicing beast!!! I love it! My husband actually weaned himself off of coffee!!!! He doesn’t really need it anymore. I drink coffee still but not as a necessity to get me through the day….We both lost weight and we are still losing since replacing a meal. I no longer see bread as something that needs to be in my life. I would eat junk food at nite and that 98% stopped (not going to lie). I used to have a problem where my left hand would shake many times during the day and I couldn’t grip well with that hand. Since doing the detox my hand barely twitches and I am noticing some strength coming back to my hand. Your plan was a killer but effective. In a few months we will do the new 8 day cleanse and the best part there’s food involved! lol! Your blog is the best thus far and thank you so much for having it. It takes a lot of self discipline and will power. Anyone can do this cleanse but I think you need to be 100% on board to do it. Thank you x100!!! 🙂

        • This is wonderful news Maria! I feel you on that 7-Day Detox being killer (LOL), but so worth it 😉 That’s great to hear about your hubby weaning himself off the coffee and you reducing your intake… coffee isn’t “bad” occasionally, but having it every day can put a damper on your adrenal glands & possibly the nervous system, so good for you guys!! It’s funny you mentioned that about ‘bread no longer being essential’… because my friend Roxie (who did a similar protocol to my new 8-Day cleanse) said the same thing!! And, girl, we all give in to the junk every now and then.. lol.. but here’s my secret.. if I am craving junk, I still try to grab a “healthy” junk.. for instance, organic chocolate instead of processed chocolate or organic chips instead of processed chips with all sorts of artificial ingredients. In the long run, this little tip will pay off 🙂 You can still indulge occasionally without ingesting cancer causing ingredients 😉 I’m SO glad to hear that about your hand not twitching as much!! That’s awesome news! I can think of several reasons why it stopped, but the #1 reason is probably because you reduced your caffeine (coffee) intake.. Feel free to email me anytime with questions, concerns, or topics you’d like me to cover Admin@KaylaChandler.com I love hearing your feedback and results!! Also, send me some before and after pics if you’d like!!

  85. Can you make the juice and smoothies in bulk and still have the same results? I work a lot and want to make sure I am keeping on track. Can I make the weeks carrot juice and it not go bad?

    • Hi Rachel.. well, it really depends on what type of jucier you have. If you have a high speed/centrifugal juicer (which most people do), then it’s best to drink right away or, at the most, prepare the night before. One secret is to juice a lemon with each juice recipe because the lemon will act as a preservative of nutrients (if you do juice a day or two in advance). I wouldn’t recommend juicing a week in advance though because many of the nutrients will be lost. However, when it comes to the smoothie recipes, you can definitely blend those in advance. The problem with making juices too far in advance is that the high speed juicers will oxidize the juice, which means it’ll lose nutrients much quicker. If you have a slow speed/masticating juicer, you can make the juices in advance with not much nutrient loss. So, in a nutshell, if you’re busy, go ahead and make all of the recipes in advance except for the juice recipes. For the juice recipes, try and make the night before and don’t forget to juice a lemon with each juice recipe if you’re not able to drink it right away. Hope this helps!

  86. Hi! I am on my 4th day of the cleanse and didn’t think I would get this far after the first day of headaches and irritability but I’m still here

    • WOW! That’s great Tara! Yea, the detox symptoms are a pain in the beginning, but once you get beyond those, you begin to feel so energized and clear 🙂 Good Luck with the rest of the cleanse.

  87. This detox looks like a great jumpstart towards clean eating. I’m wondering if you can use a salt water flush during the cleanse? I also wonder if I can continue taking certain supplements such as ginkgo biloba?

    • Hi Gabby! To answer your questions, I’m not a fan of the salt water flush but if it’s something you’ve tried before and feel comfortable doing, I don’t think it would be a problem while doing this cleanse, especially if you’re feeling constipated around days 3-5. As far as supplements go, it’s okay to continue taking your supplements during this cleanse. 🙂

  88. hi, today is my third day of my first ever cleanse, I have been eating a few cashews here and there when I get the urge for something solid. Today I only had the breakfast juice and the salad for dinner. I could not resist and a had 2 whole grain slices of toast with a slice of provolone cheese. How bad is this for the whole detox process? Do I need to restart or just continue all the way? After reading some of the q&a I realized that I can add a smoothie or a juice to the day and I plan on doing that if need be.

    • Hi Ruth.. yes, if you get hungry, please opt for an extra juice, smoothie, or fresh fruit. Breads, cheeses, etc. are really going to hinder your detox results. But, I do suggest continuing to the end. Then, in a few week, give it another try! I’ll be coming out with my 8-Day Mini Cleanse after the new year that may suit you better because it contain more solid foods. Be sure to enter your email address (at top of page) to receive the discounted price of only 4.99 when it is release 🙂

  89. Hi,
What do you recommend for premaking the juice for lunch at work. Should you freeze it, and thaw before drinking? Or is OK to put it in the fridge?

    • Hi Michelle!… If you pre-make the juice the night before each day, I recommend keeping it in the refrigerator. Any longer than 2 days, you can freeze. But, freezing it can change the taste a bit. Also, if you are going to pre-make the juices 1 or 2 nights in advance, I recommend juicing 1/2 a lemon with each juice recipe. It’ll act as a natural preservative. As for the smoothies, you don’t have to add a lemon (unless you want to). You can make the smoothies 1-4 nights in advance.

  90. I did this detox for 6 days but I stuck with it without eating anything but the juices. I loved it but by the 7th day I was so hungry for food haha will this make a big difference??

    • Hi Lydsi.. that’s great you did it for 6 days! Have you eaten the detox salad recipe yet? If not, go ahead and eat that for dinner to curb the hunger 🙂

  91. I just finished this Detox and I loved it but I only did six days…. I was kinda hungry for solids… did this ruin the whole thing?

  92. hello , im looking forward in beginning this detox as soon as possible and hopping nothing interrupts since i get lots of cravings im starting looking on the positive side but i will say i have a small situation which is i have two jobs. So im just wondering would it be a problem is i either blend the smoothies and store it in the refrigerator for the next day or prepare all three meals at once in the am and carry them with me?

    • Hi Ashley!.. For the smoothie recipes (i.e. Fat Flush Smoothie), it’s okay to prep 3-4 days in advance.. just make sure you shake them before drinking. With juices, it’s best to drink right away or (in your case) to make the night before, if possible. Additionally, I recommend juicing 1/2 of a lemon with each juice recipe because the lemon juice will act as a natural preservative. The reason it’s important to not make the juices too far in advance is because the nutrients may oxidize, which causes nutrient loss. So, in a nutshell, the smoothies (when you use a blender) are ok to make a few days in advance. The juices should be made the night before of morning of. This is assuming you have a high speed (centrifugal) juice and not a slow speed (masticating) juicer, which most people do. 🙂

  93. Hi, I’m sure this is a really goofy question, but I will be using a nutribullet to make these and also the nut/milk bags.. But when it says to use a whole lemon and apples, do I blend skin, core and all?

    • Hi Jordan.. If you’re going to be using a nutribullet and nut milk bag, then I suggest removing the rind from the lemon before blending as well as the core from the apple (although you can leave the skin on the apple). 🙂

  94. Thus is my 2nd day of the cleansing, my question is about the Avocado dressing, I’m allergic to Avocados do you have a substitute and do we mix this all in a blender?

    • Great! If you’re allergic to avocados, try substituting it for 1/3 Cup of Raw/Unroasted nuts (i.e. pecans, cashews, brazil nuts, etc.).. just be sure they are in their raw state/unroasted/unsalted. You can usually find raw nuts in the produce section of most grocery stores 🙂

  95. Kayla – if I cut out the fat flushing smoothie and replaced with the detox juice will I dramatically alter the results? I started the cleanse a few weeks ago and I found the consistency of the fat flushing juice not right for me, regardless of how much water I added or how much I blended the ingredients.

    Thanks for your help!

    • Hi Cheneen… It will not alter your detox or weight loss results. The only thing it may alter is your hunger levels. Because the smoothie has the fiber still intact, it does keep you fuller longer. If you find yourself getting hungry, I recommend making a basic smoothie of 2-3 ripe bananas blended with 1-2 handfuls of greens. Most people find this basic smoothie mixture very easy to drink.

  96. I saw a lot of questions about using a blender instead of a juicer… however all I have is a good processor, will this work? How often should you do this cleanse.. like once month?

    • Hi Stacey.. I’ve never tried a processor to make a juice. The idea when using a blender is to blend ingredients (with added water) and then strain through a nut milk bag or very fine mesh strainer. I recommend doing a test run before starting this cleanse to see if you’re able to pull off making a juice with your processor. If it’s a high quality processor, I would assume you could pull it off. But, definitely do a test run first 🙂 In regards to how often you should do this cleanse, it really depends on the individual. Don’t push your body to do more than it is comfortable with… in other words, really listen to your body. If you feel like doing it again in a month, then by all means, feel free to do so. Typically, a person who is very toxic would do cleanses as often as possible until their health reaches a point of maintenance. Once you get to a “maintenance” mode, cleansing 4-5 times per year is good. This is assuming you have no serious medical condition.

  97. Hi!!

I started this cleanse yesterday and I just had a question !
I find the fat flush smoothies are quite a lot to drink. I can only drink about 2/3 of the recommended amount. Is it really important to make sure I drink the full amount? Definitely looking forward to seeing my results after the 7 days!

    Thank you!

    Amanda

    • Wonderful! I encourage listening to your body, so drink until you’re satisfied. And, if you get hungry a couple hours later, drink the rest 🙂

  98. I just realized that I was juicing each drink instead of making smoothies for the fat flush! I just finished day 3 and I made the drinks for the next 2 days ahead of time. What do you recommend?

    • Go ahead and drink the juices you’ve prepared, and if you get hungry, drink a fat flush smoothie as well. This won’t hinder your results.

  99. My husband and I are going to try this detox over the weekend. I found your website on Pinterest and I hope that we’ll be able to stick with the detox!! Thanks!

  100. I made the recipe for the fat flush smoothie and it made 32 ounces. Should I drink all 32 ounces for lunch or could I only drink 16 oz of it for lunch and the other half for dinner ? (I did not double the recipe)

  101. Hi! I’m going to try this cleanse but was wondering if you can make the juices in bulk and store in the fridge or if it is better to juice the drinks as you go so they are fresher?

    • Hi Amanda!.. it really depends on whether you have a high speed or slow speed juicer. I assume you have a high speed juicer (it’s more popular). In this case, the earliest I recommend prepping juices is the night before because high speed juicers oxidize the juice faster (losing nutrients). Additionally, be sure to juice a lemon with each juice recipe if you’re juicing in advance because the lemon will act as a preservative. As for the smoothie (blended) drinks, it’s okay to prep 2-3 days in advance. For more info on the difference between high speed and slow speed juicers, check out this post: http://www.kaylachandler.com/how-to-choose-a-good-juicer/

  102. Can I still take my probiotic supplement every morning while on the detox? Also can you drink decaf green tea/herbal teas during the seven day?

  103. So I’m going to start this next week. Although, I’m wondering does it matter if you use a juicing method or a blender method?

    • It’s not recommended. Coffee puts stress on the adrenal glands, and the purpose of a cleanse/detox is to give your body a break so it has a chance to detox itself. Try replacing your coffee with herbal decaf teas for the 7 days you’re doing the cleanse 🙂

      • I am starving! I am currently on day one and had all three drinks. Can I have a salad for dinner or do I have to wait for day three?

        • Hi Emily.. Yes, go ahead and eat the detox salad tonight as well. If you get hungry throughout the day, feel free to snack on fruit or have another juice and/or smoothie.

  104. Hi Kayla,

I’m very interested in starting the detox. But I’m concerned that I’ll get too hungry throughout the process, that I’ll want to quit. Can I double the dose of juice? Or have more juice as I get hungry? Thanks in advance

    • That’s absolutely fine! Also, it’s okay to snack on fruit if you get hungry… just no extra avocados except for what the detox calls for. Fruit, extra juices and smoothies and herbal teas are okay.

        • If you make it a day before, be sure to juice 1/2 to 1 whole lemon with the juice recipes in order to preserve the nutrients until the next day 🙂

    • If you can settle for a decaf tea, that would be best. If not, opt for black decaf coffee. Just be sure there’s no caffeine, cream, sugar, etc. And, CONGRATS, on coming this far in the cleanse!! 🙂

      • Thanks so much. I actually made it without the coffee and had a decaf tea. Is it ok to eat from the dressings on the detox salad page? I made the homemade ranch and been eating it for 3 of my salad days and I added an avocado to my salad. Otherwise, i’ve followed the cleanse exactly. I feel great, lost weight, and my energy is way higher. Tomorrow is my last day, but I plan on doing a juice in the morning 5 days out of the week with a smoothie for lunch or dinner most days. I’m usually very healthy but i’ve fallen off the wagon a time or too and found out that my cholesterol is quite high. I’m have faith that this change will help lower it and I will be more mindful to stick to a whole foods diet (with a couple cheat days here in there!) Thanks for this awesome detox!!!

        • Claudia.. yes it is! I’m so happy for you and the results you’ve experienced. That’s amazing! Keeping the daily juicing and smoothie habit after the cleanse is a great idea and will continue the detox process just at a slightly slower rate. It’ll also continue to assist in weight loss if your body is holding on to excess fat. Stay tuned for my new 8-Day Mini Cleanse eBook coming out soon… I think you’ll enjoy it too!

  105. I wonder…have you done the math on how many apples, ounces and pounds of each fruit and veggie to purchase to make the juices? Might as well buy it all at the same time.If you have already done the math I will save my weary mind! 🙂

    • Hi Kim… unfortunately, I do not have a grocery list; however, I’ve listed how many items are needed for each recipe so this should help when making out your grocery list 🙂

  106. This is the first time I do a cleanse. I am wondering if some of the symptom are normal. One of them is some pain on the top of my back and shoulders and I have not gone to the bathroom ( number two) yet, and I am on my fourth day of the cleanse. Are these symptoms normal?

    • Yes, they are normal. During a cleanse (especially if it’s your first one), your body is in “super” detox mode, which may cause toxins to exit too quickly (causing detox symptoms). The first thing I suggest for instant relief is to do a water enema or drink some herbal laxative tea. Many times your detox symptoms will go away upon excreting the toxins that are trying to exit your body. Please try this and email me with your results!

  107. Hi Kayla! I’m a bit of a health nut and unfortunately with some stressors in my life, I fell off my own bandwagon 🙁 I definitely feel the effects of not eating clean. I am VERY interested in doing this cleanse and I think I may begin next week. I do have a concern though… I work out and run 4-6 days a week pretty intensely and last time I did a cleanse I became extremely fatigued with a headache in the middle of it after a run. I may not have been hydrated enough but still, that concerns me since I am training for a 1/2 marathon right now. Also, how will I get my protein?

    thanks!

    • Hi Alex.. I totally understand with falling off of the health band wagon. The cleaner your body gets though, the less you’ll fall off 😉 In regards to your activity level while doing this detox, I would recommend adding in additional juices and smoothies throughout the day. For instance, have 2-3 Fat Flush Smoothies throughout the day instead of one. Or, double/triple the size of the detox salad recipe. Additionally, it’s okay to snack on fruit throughout the day for energy if your activity level is at the levels you say they are. In regards to protein, because this is a detox (not a lifestyle), we do drastically lower the protein and fat levels to ensure maximum detox. Having said that, the greens in this detox provide enough protein to sustain you for the 7 days. Remember, this cleanse is all about detoxing the body of toxins that have built up over the years as quickly as possible, so it is a pretty intense cleanse. You may experience a few detox symptoms depending on how toxic your body is… but don’t quit.. it’s only for 7 days and the results are so worth it! I hope this helps! Good luck!

    • Hi Ashley.. keep in mind that this detox is carefully structured to maximize detox. Any additional items will alter your results. However, I will say that 1 Tbsp of chia seeds added to a smoothie won’t drastically affect your results. But, I wouldn’t add anymore than that. Hope this helps!

  108. Hi! I am so excited to start the cleanse. I was wondering if I went to the store tomorrow to by all if this stuff how much of everything should I buy for a week?

    • Hi Annie.. I’m glad you’ve decided to do the cleanse! Unfortunately, I do not have a grocery list, but I have listed how many ingredients are needed for each recipe on this blog post. I’m sure this info can help you to make out a grocery list 🙂 Good luck!

  109. Hi Kayla. Just wanted to post that my husband and I are doing this cleanse together and are currently on day three. We are enjoying it and our bodies are already starting to feel better. We are definitely looking forward to the HUGE salad tonight! I had questions about what you recommend to do after the cleanse to help maintain a healthy lifestyle but reading through the comments and your replies have helped me figure it out. Thanks for posting this! I enjoy your blog!

    • WOW!! Congrats on your achievement.. it speaks a lot about your self-discipline and commitment. Be sure to continue eating clean and as much organic food as possible! Also, try to keep the daily juicing and/or smoothie habit in your everyday routine 🙂

    • Hi Martine.. For the smoothies, you can definitely use the Nutribullet since it is essentially a blender. However, for the juice recipes, I recommend blending the ingredients (add water if necessary) and strain the juice through a nutmilk bag, a very fine mesh strainer, or even a cheesecloth.

  110. hi kayla, im on my first day on this diet and its been good for now jajajaja. i just have this quedtion is it posible to change the salad for a conolete veggie soup? i mean it dosent bother me at all to have salad in fact i love salads but im just crazy bout soups jajajajajaja. sonlet me now if its possible if not i will then let you know how it went! thanks for making us feel good!!

  111. Hello! I am planning to begin this detox next week. I’m thrilled to find it as I struggle to find detoxes that work with all my allergies. Most of what you suggest (aside from romaine and ginger) is safe for me. Do you, by any chance, have a grocery list to go by? As in how much to buy for 7 days worth of ingredients? I can just see myself now constantly running back to the store because I underestimated what was needed lol! Thanks so much for sharing this detox plan and recipes!

    • Hi Stacey!.. I’m glad you’re able to do this detox! Unfortunately, I do not have a grocery list put together, but I have listed the recipes for each juice/smoothie/salad on the blog post for this cleanse… so maybe that’ll help ya! Sorry for the inconvenience. As soon as I get the chance, I’ll be sure to put a list together 🙂 Good Luck!

  112. Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let everyone know…kohls has a great deal on a black and decker juicer this week! It’s not the most fancy, but it definatly will do if your on a tight budget like I am. It’s originally $49.99, it is on mega sale for $9.99! I had a 30% off coupon (if you have a kohls card you can tell them at the register you do too) and it ends up being around $7.00!! Even better yet if you have some kohls cash, you can get it for FREE! Happy juicing everyone!

P.s. FAB blog ☺️ I love this detox!!

    Yours truly,
    Ashleigh

  113. Hi Kayla!

My friend and I have started your detox! I’m not going to lie it is a little hard just because I love to eat. lol. But I know that this is worth it. Thank You for posting this and also for inspiring story and awesome support. I have a question about after the 7 days of the detox. I know that you said to eat natural foods. Is it ok to eat chicken breast and fish after?? Or is there a meal plan that we can follow?? Thank you for all your help. I look forward to hearing from you.(:

    • Hi Diana! Yes, any true detox is hard.. but, I feel your pain because I love food too.. Lol! The benefits are so worth it though 🙂 To answer your question: Yes, it’s okay to eat chicken and fish after the cleanse. I recommend sticking to a whole foods diet following the cleanse. My rule of thumb is to eat foods as close to the way God made them as possible. 🙂 Good luck!

  114. Guess it is just me here..
    But i want to share…lol.
Dia 3 : green juice for lunch, huge salad for dinner. No time for Breakfast.
My scale did not work today. Afff.
But my work pants is not so tight.
    Just want to share.

    • That’s wonderful! Remember, it’s not just about the weight loss (although that’s great) but also about restoring and detoxing the body. How is your body feeling?

  115. I guess it all me today…

I use my app ” lose it” to keep track of calories..
Then at the end i had 1000 calories with my detox.

Carrots has a lot of calories and also green apple.
I was just wondering why one lady here said that she was gaining instead of losing weigh.
Ayway…i decided that i will keep my calories under 1000 calories. I will use less carrots and maybe less apple….i will see what is the best.
Just sharing my toughts. Also i decided to drink a natural laxative to help. K, bye.

    • Keep in mind that this is a detox, not a lifestyle. So, for the brief 7 days, you will be lessening the load on your body (specifically your digestive system) so that your body can cleanse itself. This protocol is all about giving the body the right nutrients and fiber to support this detox process. In regards to the laxative, a laxative tea usually does the trick 😉 About the lady who gained weight, I can’t really say because she didn’t provide me with enough details. But, she’s the only who has ever claimed to have gained weight on this.

  116. Me again…
After making the wrong drink i stopped drinking and decided to make the fat flush smoothie
    It was faster anyway.
I put less produce and everything else the same. I used 1 cup of coconut water. It taste wonderful.

  117. Gezz….i made a big mistake…instead of the smothie i made the detox juice for lunch ….afff.
And question…the smothie it is suposed to be done using a blender right? Dumb question i know…but i got confused here and i am not thinking straight…so decided to ask anyway.
    Thanks.

  118. Hi again.
I am drinking the lunch juice now. It is delicious.
Only drinking water to make the hunger go away.
I am just feeling a little bit sick…i wonder if this is part of the whole process of eliminating the toxinas.
Did anybody got sick as if want to call the John ( puke) ?

    • Many people have detox symptoms when doing a cleanse. It is very normal. Detox symptoms (and the intensity of them) do vary depending on how toxic one is. Feeling nauseated is a detox symptoms. Sometimes drink some hot herbal tea helps. But, to be truthful, sometimes you just have to fight through those detox symptoms. If they become unbearable, I would suggest “slowing down” the detox process by adding in a meal in the evenings during this protocol.

  119. Hello there…
I just finished drinking the breakfast drink and is “delicious”
I put 2 green apple, a nice piece of ginger, and i completed 24 oz with carrots…it is a lot of carrots so i decided to go for 24 oz instead of 32 oz.
I feel full. How delicious was that. Planning to prepare tonight to take with me tomorrow when i go to work.
I am very excited so far. Loving. Hope stay excited all the way to the end.
    Thanks again For sharing Kayla.

  120. OK last question, for the fat blaster smoothie i saw someone mention eating this instead of blending it together… is there a benefit to drinking this as a smoothie vs eating it as a salad? I know no dressing but can we use the lemon juice as the dressing??

    • The benefits to blending is that by blending the fibers, you are “pre-digesting” them, which makes it much easier for your body to absorb (less digestion needed). During a cleanse, you want to put as little stress via digestion on the body as possible so that it can focus on detoxifying.

  121. Hello there.
I am starting day 1 today.
Going to store now…i was hungry and i had a cup with warm water, lemon juice and a bit of cayenne. Is that ok? Can i keep doing this in the morning ? Can i drink water w lemon juices in between? Also…can i take fish oil, vitamin D while in it?
Thank u very much for sharing.
I am excited to do it.
Planning to still work out with some dvds at my house or use treadmil.

    • Hi Ellie.. yes, the lemon juice cocktail you mentioned is okay while on the cleanse. You can also continue to take your vitamins if you feel the need to do so. I hope it goes/went well! 🙂

  122. This question may already be listed but is it ok to make the detox and carrot juice ahead of time? I dont want to luggage my juicer to work, its pretty big!

  123. I’m starting the 7 day detox cleanse today. The carrot juice is delicious! A lot of my questions were answered in reading thru these comments. 🙂 Thanks!

  124. Hello. I’m actually in my kitchen preparing my mason jars with the carrot juice. I cant wait to see the end results and continue with eating healthier. I kbow there will be challenges, but I would like to know, what advice can you provide to stick to the plan. Thanks

    • Hi Lakima.. Sorry for such a late reply! I’ve been away for a few weeks. I hope the cleanse went well for you. Please report your results and any questions you may have now that you’ve tried the cleanse.

  125. Is there a grocery list for this 7 day detox… Im sure I could figure it out but i would hate to buy too much or too little.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Beth.. I don’t have an exact grocery list; however, I do list how many ingredients are needed for each recipe in the blog post. You should be able to easily calculate how much produce you need from that… Sorry! I should put a list together in the near future for you guys 🙂

  126. Couple questions –

    1) Does the order of the meals matter after the morning juice? Like, can I have a salad and then the smoothie?
    2) For after the cleanse, is natural foods just fruit, veggies, nuts etc. Or can you have things like rice, whole grains, lean meat?

    • Answers:
      1) As long as you have the juice in the AM, the other two meals can be switched.
      2) Because this isn’t a hard core liquid only cleanse (i.e. juice fasting), your digestive system should be able to tolerate whole grains, lean meats, etc. after the cleanse.

  127. I’m wanting to try the cleanse once I finish breastfeeding my baby. However, I’m allergic to apples is there another fruit that I can substitute (also allergic to peaches, pears, & plums). Thanks.

  128. Thank you so much Kayla.
I have a couple of questions more, if thats ok.

Will it be possible to exchange the carrot for any other fruit/veggie? I never been fond of carrots and even though I did drink the carrot juice this morning, it was not very pleasant for me.

And last but not least, on the first, second and fifth day the dinners are again the fat flush smoothie. Will it affect the detox a lot if I had it replaced by the veggie salad like int he rest of the week? Due to my work, I am very active and always running around, especially in the mornings and I dont want to feel to weak.

    Thank you!

    • No problem! 🙂 Try substituting with oranges if you don’t have blood sugar issues. Oranges work well for cleansing the colon as well. And, you can totally replace the fat flush smoothie dinners with the salad. For more active people (like yourself), you can even have the salad and a smaller version of the fat flush smoothie for dinner.

  129. Tomorrow I am starting with this detox 7 day plan, I am very determined and looking forward to it. I just have one small inquiry, I’ve noticed that in most of the juice recipes you use the measurement of knuckles. Unfortunately I am not familiar with this measurement and in Google I am getting all sorts of different answers. Could you please advice how many tea spoons or big spoons a knuckle is equivalent to? Thank you in advance.

    • Hi Xana! One knuckle of ginger would equate to about 1-2 inches in length. We call them knuckles because ginger roots tend to resemble “fingers” 😉 Good luck!

  130. This plan sounds right up my alley. My only concern would be that I’m allergic to carrot juice. Is there an alternative way to get the same effect without the carrot juice?

    • Hi Melissa.. Try replacing the carrots with 1 orange and 1 organic sweet potato. Be sure you juice this recipe and not blend it like the fat flush smoothie 🙂

  131. So I’m starting this tomorrow morning, but I don’t have a juicer 🙁
Since I only have a blender to a blend each thing individually?

    • Hi Dalma.. If you have a very fine mesh strainer, nut milk bag, or cheese cloth, you can blend ingredients all together in a blender (be sure to add enough water) and strain the juice through one of these. Good luck! 🙂

  132. Hello please am trying to conceive and I have pcos. Do u this this diet will help me? I need to lose 30lb cause I gain too much weigh

  133. I’m not at all familiar with ginger so I’m not sure what you mean by “knuckle. ” I’m looking forward to this detox but I want to make sure I do it correctly. Thank you for posting this 🙂

  134. Just wanted to let you know that the carrot juice tastes GREAT. I’m on a budget (poor college student), but I still decided to buy a juicer and a new blender…after some reading, I really understand the importance of both the juice and the smoothie, so I didn’t want to sub out either. Thank you for posting such a reasonable cleanse (I am so thankful for the salad nights). I am only on Day 1 but after all my purchases, I am more than determined to stick with the detox.

    • Hi Ashley!.. I’m glad you like the carrot juice (it’s one of my favs). If you get hungry in between meals, feel free to eat some fruit. Good luck on the cleanse.. let me know how it goes!! 🙂

  135. Just to give an update! I lost 8 lbs after doing this detox. I feel amazing. It really works. I want to do this once a month now. Thanks Kayla! 🙂

  136. So this may have been answered already but there were a lot of comments tomgo through. So went putting this all in the blender…do I peel the apples or carrots do I cut the apple off of the core…I know it sounds silly but I would think to cut it off the core but i wasnt sure if there were nutrients or something in the core somimjust wanted to ask along with the whole lemon…peel and all? Thanks!

    • Hi Laura.. great questions. First off, the carrots are to be juiced (not blended). If you do not have a juicer, you can always blend the carrots with water and strain the juice through a nut milk bag, cheesecloth, or very fine mesh strainer. As far as peeling the fruit goes, if it’s organic, don’t bother peeling it because the peel contain added fiber and nutrients. If it’s not organic, then I recommend peeling it to eliminate ingesting pesticides/herbicides. Yes, you’ll want to core the apple for sure unless you have a vitamix, which can process it good enough to where it’s digestible. Hope this info helps and good luck!!

    • That’s great Abi! Just be sure to drink lots of water during the cleanse. If you need to add 1-2 bananas to the fat flush smoothie to help the taste, feel free to do so. Also, hot teas are allowed as long as they aren’t caffeinated. Feel free to email me anytime during the cleanse with specific questions. Good luck!

  137. Hi! I was reading though the comments, I am wondering what would be an appropriate substitute for apples, as my stomach can’t raw apples.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Erica! Try pears or bananas. Just make sure they’re really ripe to maximize absorption and taste. The bananas should have brown spots, and the pears should be slightly soft. 🙂

    • Hi Quincey! I am not a doctor, so I can’t professionally advise you on what to do. However, I can offer my personal advice. I suggest you do not do this cleanse while breastfeeding simply because it doesn’t provide enough calories. I do suggest you add in the juices and smoothie recipes to your regular diet routine to increase your nutrient and fiber intake. This will help prep you for when you are able to start the cleanse. 🙂

  138. Im on second day of the detox cleanse, and i found the smoothie to think and i strained it and i just read that i cant. And i already made a batch for today and tomorrow since i work all day. Would this affect the results drastically?
By the way, love the juices.

    • It’s technically okay to strain the smoothie. You just won’t get as much fiber. The smoothie helps to push the toxins out of your system much more quickly. If you need to, you can add more liquid, water or coconut water, to thin out the smoothie. You can also add 1-2 bananas for a sweeter taste. By doing so, you won’t hinder much of your detox results. Good luck!!

  139. Ps. I saw your comments above about running it through a strainer but we do not have enough liquids in this glass. It’s super thick. (And we already added some water in order to blend it ) …

  140. Hello, I’m starting this program today but I’m having difficulty with the carrot juice. If I don’t have a juicer available to me, can i drink it in its “smoothie” form?

    • You can drink it in smoothie form; however, be sure to add lots of water to it to make the consistency really thin (almost like juice). Another option would be to blend it and then strain the juice through a very fine mesh strainer or nut milk bag.

  141. I am a little concerned since I am on day 4 of the cleanse. Trying to power through. But I have not had any significant bowel movements. (Sorry for the TMI). I am not usually regular (sometimes will go for 2-3 days without) but I figured with all the veggies included in the detox that wouldn’t be the case. Is there anything I should be concerned about? I have followed the recipes exactly and haven’t strayed from the plan. I weighed myself today and am 1lb heavier (probably from not going to the bathroom).

    • Hi Catherine.. so sorry for this late reply! The best way to get the bowels moving, especially during a cleanse, is to perform an enema. Pure water enemas are safe and very effective to stimulate the bowels without using laxatives loaded with chemicals. Another great way would be to drink a laxative tea. You can find a good laxative tea at most grocery stores nowadays. Hope this helps!! Keep me posted please.

  142. I do have 1 question (and probably silly) How much exactly (or other way of measuring) a bunch of parsley or cilantro?

    • Oh, believe me, there’s no silly question when it comes to detox 🙂 A bunch of parsley or cilantro is typically about a large handful or 1-2 cups worth.

  143. Hi there. I come across your 7 day detox cleanse on Pinterest and it seem interesting. I start my cleanse this Saturday and will definitely be trying yours. And I have to say, by the time I finished reading all the comments/questions and your replies, it pretty much answered all my questions. Im very impressed, and I’ll let you know how it goes.

    • Wonderful!! Definitely let me know how it goes.. if you have any questions or concerns during the cleanse, feel free to contact me! 🙂

      • I like to prepare my juice and smoothie the night before. So I just finished tonight. The carrot juice seem ok but will find out tomorrow how it taste. With the smoothie I had a little challenge there. I followed the ingredients without the water or coconut water. I came up with over 24-26oz. So I don’t even have to add water at all. Although it’s pretty thick, so when I’m ready to drink it, I might have to add some water otherwise I might not be able to drink it that thick. That’s just my thoughts. I’ll definitely let know tomorrow when I start. Wish me luck.

    • Hi Lorri! The Fat flush smoothie is pretty intense. If you can’t stomach it, I recommend adding 2 really ripe bananas and more water to make the smoothie thinner. If you still can’t handle the taste, add in 1 more apple or reduce the amount of greens. Good luck!!

  144. I’ve been looking at cleanses trying to find the right one and this one is the one I want to try. I just have a couple questions about it before I start. 1. After the cleanse and I start going back to more solid foods. How do you suggest I do that? I heard with cleanses you become constipated as soon as you are done and start eating solids again. Does this happen when you are done with this one?
    2. Is water the only okay thing to drink or can we drink other things like tea and juice?

    • Hi Jamie! I think you’ll enjoy this cleanse 🙂 To answer your questions: 1. In most cases a 7 day cleanse isn’t long enough to disrupt your daily bowel movements even when you do go back to eating normal foods. If you were just drinking juice for 7 days, then you’d definitely need to ease back into solid foods after the cleanse. However, because you’re still eating solid foods on this cleanse, you shouldn’t have any issues with constipation once getting off of the cleanse. As long as you don’t binge eat on unhealthy foods, you should be okay. I suggest eating light and low fat on Day 8 when coming off of the cleanse. 2. There are juice recipes included in the cleanse. Water and decaf tea are both okay. But, nothing else 🙂 Hope this helps!

  145. Hello! This looks like something I’ll have to try when I’m actually making my own food for a full week!
    Couple questions:
Is there a replacement for ginger? I can’t handle it at all, unfortunately.
Any suggestions for ‘snacking’ in between ‘meals’? I’m a teacher & seem to always be hungry between meals, especially if it’s a smoothie or juice.
Also, protein sources? I feel like I’d have no energy during the week.

    • Hi Jessica! You can either remove the ginger completely from the juice recipe or replace it with turmeric root for a similar effect. For snacking in between meals, opt for high water fruit, such as watermelon, grapes, apples, oranges, etc. But, be sure you’re snacking because you’re truly hungry 😉 Because this cleanse is for the purpose of speeding up detox, it is solely focused on maximizing your detox results. Therefore, we eliminate heavy proteins, such as meat. Keep in mind that both fruits and veggies contain small amounts of protein. Because this is only a 7 day cleanse, you should be fine with lowering your protein intake for one week. You may experience detox symptoms the first few days of the cleanse, such as low energy, headaches, etc. So, I recommend starting the cleanse on a Friday to ensure you are able to rest over the weekend, if needed. Hope this helps 🙂

  146. I’m starting the fast tomorrow- I purchased odwalla organic carrot juice and wanted to know if the ginger & apples are essential to this drink or can I just drink the carrot juice? I don’t have a juicer and There is a native sun organic grocery store near my home and I plan on visiting their juice bar for the other smoothies. Any suggestions you have are welcomed. Thx!

    • Hi Dennis!.. Yes, the organic carrot juice should be fine. If that is your only choice, then definitely go for that! Be sure the serving sizes are enough though.. 24-32oz. Good luck!!

  147. Hi Kayla! I’m on my third day of the cleanse. I’m really looking forward to the salad tonight! My question for you has to do with the fat flush smoothie. I’ve modified it a bit adding more coconut water to thin it out and less lettuce but it’s still not my favorite to drink. I’m wondering, would I still get the same benefits if I just had the smoothie in salad form? Instead of blending all the ingredients (lettuce, apple, spinach, cucumber, lemon juice) I would consume the ingredients like a salad. Do you not recommend this? Also, as an alternative to the fat flush smoothie, could I do juice the ingredients? I’m having a hard time with texture and taste but I find juice is easier to consume. Thank you in advance!!

    • Hi Sue.. so sorry for the late response! You can definitely modify the smoothie to taste better, if needed, by adding more fruit (maybe a banana) or coconut water. If you have the smoothie in salad form, you must eat the salad without dressing in order to achieve the same results. I would suggest modifying the smoothie first. Try adding a banana or two and more water or coconut water. This will not effect your results much. But, if you would rather eat the smoothie in salad form, you can definitely do so… just don’t add a dressing unless it’s lemon/lime/orange juice. Additionally, you can not replace the smoothie with a juice simply because this protocol is designed to ensure you have a proper balance of nutrition and fiber. The juice provides a large boost of nutrition while the smoothie provides lots of fiber to help push the toxins out of the body. Again, if the smoothie is your only problem, I would suggest adding bananas and water to help with the taste 🙂

  148. Hi! My sister and I started the cleanse this morning and I was wandering about the headaches, whether I can do something to make them stop ,if I’m doing something wrong or if it’s a detox symptom? (I’m not a caffeine drinker) Going great this far really excited for this week:)!

    • Hi Haylee.. So sorry for the late response. Headaches are one of the most common signs of detox. The severity of the headaches will depend upon how “toxic” your body is. For my very first cleanse, I had migraines! Usually the headaches will subside after Day 2 or 3. To ease the pain, try drinking some hot tea (decaf), warm lemon water with honey, or take a good old fashion nap! Personally, when I do a cleanse, I like to start on a Friday because I know Days 2 and 3 will be the most difficult. This way, I can sleep more on Sat and Sun. Hope this helps! 🙂

  149. Thanks for this cleanse! There are three of us doing this together. I was wondering if we can continue taking our daily multivitamin, or will that affect the cleanse too much? Thanks in advance. I’ll post back with our results!

    • Hey Joy! You’re very welcome.. Yes, you can continue taking your multivitamin on this particular cleanse 🙂 Good luck!! Let me know how it goes.

  150. I’m crying as I dump the fat flush smoothie down the drain. That is one of the vilest things I have ever tried to drink. I wanted to do this so bad!

    • Oh no! Try adding 1 more apple and more lemon juice to the mix to avoid the bitterness of the greens. It won’t affect your results. 🙂

  151. My first time starting this cleanse and just one question… About how much is one bunch of parsley? Online says about one cup but what did you use?
    Thanks

    • Sarah.. yes, about one 1 Cup will do. I never take the time to measure everything, so I just grab a handful. 1 Cup or 1 handful will do the job 🙂

      • Quick question… Once the cleanse is over and we want to incorporate the juice in the mornings, do we drink the juice and then eat our breakfast or does that replace our breakfast?
        Thanks!

        • Sarah.. it depends on what type of results you’re looking for. If you’re looking to lose more weight, then you could drink a 24-32 oz juice as your breakfast. But, if you’re just looking to maintain your weight, then you could drink a juice then eat a small breakfast. Honestly, some days may be different than others. Really listen to your body on this matter. For instance, many days I’ll just have a 32 oz juice for breakfast while others day I may have a juice then a small breakfast about an hour later. Always be sure to drink your juice first though so it’ll be absorbed quickly while your stomach is still empty from fasting over night. 🙂

  152. I made my carrot juice in the blender and it doesn’t taste good at all. It makes me gag lol! Any tips for making it better?

    • Samantha.. blended carrots aren’t that good, I admit.. lol! Carrot juice, however, tastes great! – especially with juiced apples. If you don’t have a juicer, then blend all ingredients for the juice recipe in a blender and strain the juice through a nut milk bag. That’s the closest you’ll get to actually running the ingredients through a juicer. 🙂 But, if you have the extra cash, I would definitely suggest investing in a good juicer – it really makes a difference in taste.

  153. Hi!
I’m an an amateur runner and I wonder if I can continue practicing my hobbie while doing this detox plan.I’m concerned about if I can stand a session eating only your proposed salads/juices/smoothies.

    Thanks a lot.

    • Hi Paula.. I encourage really listening to your body during this cleanse. With any cleanse, depending on the intensity and length of it, you may experience some detox symptoms, such as some fatigue. During a cleanse, your body is trying to detox and heal itself at the same time, which does cause you to need to rest a little more. Any intense exercises, lack of sleep/rest, etc. will only put more strain on the body during this cleanse. If your hobby doesn’t require intense physical exertion, then I’m sure it’ll be okay 🙂

    • Joselin.. You’ll still get good results – don’t worry 🙂 I do suggest buying your greens organic (if possible) in the future though. They tend to retain the most pesticides. Good luck on the cleanse, and please report back on your results 🙂

  154. Hi again Kayla just wondering about measurement…. Is it 24-32oz of juice or is that the ingredients before the pulp is removed? I’ve run out of carrots.

      • Thanks for the tip. Finding it tough but very good. Haven’t been able to stick to it fully yet had a few false starts and some chicken on day 2. I have caught a cold but I will keep trying at least it’s making me eat healthy choicesa. How many calories are in each drink juice and smoothy. I feel good so far so would like to keep these in my diet.

        • Any progress is good progress 🙂 Try doing 2 days of the cleanse then take a break. Then, try it again for 4 days and so on until you accomplish the full 7 day cleanse. Be sure to give your body a break in between though 🙂

  155. This is roughly calculated guess at the amount 3 bags of carrots is an guestimate but I could be way off. I’ll let you know.

  156. Going to give this a go starting tomorrow Friday. Hope I can stick with it. I worked out a list of ingredients to buy
    26 granny smith apples
    12 knuckles of ginger
    3 bags carrots
    7 lemons
    26 handfuls spinach/kale
    7 cucumbers
    20 cups romaine lettuce
4 mixed salad bowls. I have a tip for juice. If you blend all ingredients with some water and let it sit overnight the pulp will rise to the top making it easier to drain….I have no strainer or juicer. Is it OK to drink water before the juice…I have thyroid hormone replacement medication to take with a full glass of water everyday an hour before food. This can only be good for me.

    • Hi Masc!.. Awesome list.. And, feel free to drink as much water as you’d like. You can even add some lemon juice to it for added taste. The more water you drink along with the other recipes, the faster your body will detox. It’s all about flushing those toxins out as quick as possible while rehydrating and re-nourishing the body. As for the carrots, 2-3 five lb bags should definitely be enough. You may have some left over. Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

  157. Hi there! I’ve just started this today-seems great so thank you! Just have a quick question, do we drink/eat the pulp as well? Or just the juice?
    Thanks again!

    • Hi Clare!.. For the juice, you will only drink the juice. For the smoothie, you’ll add all ingredients to a blender and drink it entirely. Good luck on the cleanse… if you have any more questions, feel free to comment or email 🙂

  158. Hi Kayla,

I am planning on starting this detox next week. However, the only ingredients I eat in the salad recipe provided are broccoli, cauliflower and carrot. Can you suggest any substitutes?

    Cheers.

    • Hi Molly.. I can’t wait to hear your results! Here are a few more veggies you can add to your salad: radishes, cabbage, any herbs (cilantro, parsley, mint, etc.), zucchini, eggplant, baby mushrooms, beets, jalapeño peppers, chives, ginger, jicama, chili peppers, artichokes, and brussel sprouts. Any veggie that’s not too starchy, such as corn and potatoes, is fine. The most important thing during this cleanse is to keep the food raw (not cooked). A good idea to soften some of the more firm veggies without cooking them is to soak them in water for a couple of hours prior to eating. This kind of mimics the texture of the veggie being lightly steamed without destroying any enzymes and nutrients 🙂 Hope this helps! Good luck!

  159. This is my first day on the cleanse. I brought my fat flush smoothie to work and I strained it, making it into a juice since it was so thick. After reading all the comments, I now realize I wasn’t supposed to do. I plan to not strain it all for the rest of the days and dinner tonight. Will this mess me up too much? Also, do you have any tips for making the fat flush smoother thinner so it’s easier to drink?

    • Hi Amanda!.. No worries on your little mishap.. it won’t affect your cleanse. However, if you get hungry before dinner, feel free to have yourself an extra fat flush smoothie to ensure you get enough fiber for today. To help make the smoothie thinner, feel free to add water or coconut water to the mixture while blending the smoothie. This will definitely help to thin it out. Hope this helps! And, good luck! Don’t forget to report your fantastic results 🙂

  160. Have you had anyone with issues regarding protein? I feel my mind and body crash if I don’t regularly eat protein and I am nervous about the lack of it in this cleanse.

    • Hi Brett.. because the cleanse is only 7 days, no one typically has issues with cutting out the protein in regards to meat. Keep in mind that leafy greens (which are in the fat flush smoothie and salads) do contain some amounts of protein, which helps to keep hunger at bay. The purpose of this cleanse is solely for detoxifying the body and the fastest way to do so is via fruits and veggies. If you feel the need to incorporate some type of protein once or twice during the cleanse, by all means, please do so. However, the closer you’re able to stick to the protocol, the better the detox results will be.

    • Continue to eat very clean – so no processed foods. Also, try replacing one meal per day (lunch or dinner) with a big green smoothie. Continue to drink a juice in the morning on an empty stomach as well (if finances allow). By incorporating a juice in the morning on an empty stomach and replacing one meal per day with a green smoothie, you’ll start to notice results in terms of weight loss so long as the rest of your diet is clean. Also, be sure to workout 4-5 times per week, both weights and cardio. High intensity cardio will melt the fat right off. Google high intensity cardio for examples. Hope this helps!

    • Giving up caffeine for the 7 days will give your adrenal glands a much needed break. Feel free to have decaffeinated teas. 🙂

  161. I just came across this cleanse and am excited to do it. When you say 24 – 32oz. for the juices, just thinking about that amount seems like a lot. In what amount of time should the juices be drank? Immediately or within a 30 minute time? or so?

    • Hi Leticia.. Once you start the cleanse, you’ll be glad the juices are larger amounts since they are replacing meals 🙂 I recommend drinking the juices within 1 hour of preparing. If you need to prep the juices the night before for convenience, you can always add a lemon to the mixture to help preserve many of the nutrients 🙂

  162. I am getting ready to start this, and I’m really excited. Only downer is that I am allergic to Ginger. It there any thing else I can use instead or is it ok to skip it??

    • Hi Tasha! I suggest replacing the ginger with 1/2 of a lemon.. Ginger is great for reducing inflammation.. Adding 1/2 a lemon should give you similar results 🙂 Good luck and let us know your results!

  163. Hi Kayla,

I’m also going to try this detox with a blender since I don’t have a juicer. For the Detox Juice recipe it calls for a whole lemon. Do I just slice up the lemon, peel and all, and put that in my blender? Same with the ginger?

    Thanks!

    • Hey Nicole!.. If you’re going to use a blender and then strain the juice, I recommend removing the peel from the lemon. The ginger is fine with the skin on it (wash it well). 🙂

  164. I just started on this cleanse. I was just wondering, I been having some “feminine” issues and need to add include lactobacillus/probitoics into my diet. My doctor suggested that I start eating some yogurt to help with the process. Can I add some yogurt into my juices?

    • Hi Melanie.. Have you asked your doctor about taking a high quality probiotic supplement in lue of eating yogurt? From personal experience, I can tell you that a high quality probiotic supplement will provide you with a much higher probiotic count than most yogurts on the market. I’m definitely not saying don’t eat yogurt, but it shouldn’t hurt to eliminate yogurt for the 7-Day cleanse so long as your are taking a high quality probiotic supplement. Of course, I always recommend to consult with your doctor or a medical professional beforehand.

  165. Just finished the detox and I am so happy with the results! I am down to 121 from 130 and have so much more energy! My skin is glowing! I have to say that the first two days were horrendous for me! I love my coffee and eliminating it out of my daily routine caused a really rough headache! However, now that I am coffee free, I am going to stick with the caffeine free teas for awhile and treat myself occasionally to a coffee 🙂 I am prepped with clean eating foods for this week and will be incorporating some of the juice’s into the week as well! Thanks so much for posting this detox!!

    • Natalie.. I’m so excited to hear about your amazing results!! You go girl! 🙂 When I did my very first cleanse, my coffee withdrawals were excruciating!! I was in bed for 2 days because of a migraine. After seeing how addictive coffee was to my body, I never went back to coffee on a regular basis (only for special occasions)… My morning green juice seems to give me much more energy any way!! 😉 Keep up the good work and CONGRATS for having the willpower to endure the withdrawals.. You rock!

  166. Hi, Kayla I have a Magic Bullet NutriBullet to blend a juice it doesn’t extract the pulp. Is that still juicing.

    • Hi Cynthia.. Unfortunately, a Magic Bullet is not the same thing as juicing. However, the Magic Bullet will work perfectly to blend your smoothie. If you do not have a juicer, you can blend the ingredients first then strain the juice via a nut milk bag or a REALLY fine strainer. The goal is to separate as much of the fiber from the juice as possible. Read my latest blog post where I discuss Juicing vs Blending to understand the difference 🙂 http://www.KaylaChandler.com

      • Hi Kayla thanks for your prompt responses. I just read your piece on Jucing vs Blending I totally get it now. I have one more question for the mix salad can I have avocado and nuts? Thanks again today is my 1st day juicing feeling great.

        • I’m glad you’re feeling great Cyn! Keep up the good work 🙂 If you notice in one of the approved salad dressings, you are allowed 1/2 an avocado. Keeping the fat content as low as possible during this cleanse allows for maximum detox. If you feel the need to eat a whole avocado (medium sized), feel free to do so. But, keep in mind, the closer you stick to the protocol, the greater your results 🙂

  167. hey…I am starting the cleanse, but also only have a blender. I don’t have a nut milk bag, is it fine if I just sift it?

    • Hi Deb… I’m not sure which drink you’re referring to.. but to make it easy on ya.. If it says smoothie, then blend all of the ingredients in a blender and drink. If it says juice, then be sure to juice the ingredients in a juicer and only consume the juice. Hope this helps! 🙂

  168. Hi there I was confused about the juicing and smoothie all I have is a regular blender and a nutri bullet which one do I use for juicing and which one for smoothies. I also have another machine that I can throw fruit or vegetables in and it separates the skin and only gives me the juice idk I’m too confused too many machines. TIA

    • Hi CG.. it sounds to me like you have a juice then because technically that’s what a juicer does (separates the juice from the fiber). Basically, a smoothie is when you put all ingredients (including the skin, except for lemons) into a blender and blend thoroughly. A juicer is when you extract only the juice. If you do not have a juicer, you could always purchase a nut milk bag and blend the ingredients then strain it through the nut milk bag 🙂

    • Hi Amanda.. No, not all smoothies contain yogurt. Technically, you could add whatever you’d like and call it a ‘smoothie’ 🙂 The reason I include both juices and smoothies is because they both serve a different purpose. The juice is more therapeutic and more easily absorbed into the bloodstream since it contains very little fiber. This supplies your cells with much needed vitamins and nutrients within a matter of minutes. The smoothie still has all of its fiber intact which is going to help cleanse the colon of excess waste much quicker. Hope this helps!

    • Hi Annie!.. Because I am not a medical professional, I can not instruct you on specific protocols, especially while breastfeeding. However, my personal advice would be to wait until you finish breastfeeding to do this cleanse. Although, it wouldn’t hurt to begin adding in the juices and smoothies to boost your nutrition while breastfeeding. This way, your body will be prepped beforehand once you do decide to do the whole cleanse 🙂

  169. I’m sorry! I meant when I’m done cleansing! Lol do I slowly introduce chicken and all that other stuff back in when I’m done?

    • Ohhhh sorry about that! 🙂 When coming off of the cleanse, I suggest slowly introducing whole foods back into your diet over the course of 3 days. Because this cleanse isn’t a full out juice fast, your digest system won’t be quite as sensitive. As long as your portion sizes aren’t huge (aka binge eating), you will be perfectly fine.

  170. Thank you so much!!! First day and I’m not doing as bad as I thought! I’m a little hungry, and the headache is not as bad. But then again it’s only day 1!! Lol I’m more nervous now about working out and maintaining the results after. If chicken is that hard to digest what about doing fish instead? I know a lot of yogurts, water, fruits and veggies, but what about other tips? I’m so happy you’re the kind of blogger to write back and help! Thanks!!

    • Hey Kyleigh.. You’re off to a great start! 😉 If you get hungry in between meals on this cleanse, feel free to make another Fat Flush Smoothie or eat some whole fruit. Bananas and mangos, I find, are the more ‘filling’ fruits. Also, make sure you make a HUGE salad at night (on the days that salads are allowed) because the greens and veggies will help fill you up and speed up the detox process. You are free to add anything you’d like to this cleanse; however, keep in mind, the closer you stick to the protocol, the better your results will be. On Days 2 and 3, you may experience detox symptoms, such as headaches, tiredness, and brain fog. They will pass! As far as maintaining the weight after the cleanse, you have to remember to stay away from the foods that put weight on you to begin with, such as dairy products and processed foods. Aim to include more smoothies and juices into your diet as well as keeping a really clean diet and you will be fine. Remember, water weight is totally different than fat.. I suggest not only weighing yourself on the scale, but also measuring your body fat percentage because sometimes the scale can be misleading especially if you ate a meal with a lot of salt the day before (salt retains water). Additionally, the more natural fruit and veggies sugars you include in your daily diet, the more energy you’ll have to workout, which is also key to long term weight loss 🙂 There are many factors involved in losing weight, but you are definitely on the right track.. releasing toxins from the body is the best route (IMO) to natural weight loss 🙂

  171. Hey Kayla!

Me and my sister are going to try your cleanse and we were wondering if there was anything we needed to do before we started the cleanse? Like prepping our bodies or anything?! Really excited to try this!

    • Hi Safia.. That’s exciting you and your sis will be doing this cleanse together.. it always helps to have a partner! With any cleanse, I always suggest weening yourself off of any caffeine and processed foods a few days in advance. The purpose of this is to make the transition into the cleanse (Days 1-3) much easier on you (less detox symptoms). Good luck!! 🙂

  172. I’m just feeling like I’ve messed up my whole cleanse! I only ate salad this morning since I was sick and throwing up. Otherwise I was ready for another day of juice only. What can I do to get back on track and still get results?

    • Tasha.. Throwing up is definitely a detox symptom. But, don’t get down on yourself! You’re doing fine! This is just a sign that you REALLY needed to start detoxing your body. Eating a salad instead of the juice is fine. Just get back on track for your next meal. The salad is still helping the detox process so long as you stick to the salad recipe I included on the cleanse. Don’t quit girl! You’re doing fantastic! If you feel the need to throw up again, try eating another detox salad or a whole fruit. Or, I’ve even had some to take off for a day or two and then start back on the cleanse. When I first began detoxing, I was only able to stick to a detox protocol for 2-3 days (because I was SO toxic!).. But, little by little, I worked my way up to a full week. The most important thing is to take it day by day and really listen to your body. If you feel you need to take a break for a day or two, please do so. And, do not stress over it. Stress will only decrease your detox results. Relax, listen to your body, and LOVE your body. Take it slow and rest as much as possible. Eventually, you’ll be able to do a full 7-Day Cleanse with ease 🙂

  173. Hi! I started the. 7 day juice cleanse on Monday. Monday evening I ate. I was successful Tuesday and didn’t eat anything. Today on Wednesday I’m very sick and have been throwing up. So I made a salad instead of juicing. I really wanted to do another day of only juice since I ate Monday night. Is it normal to throw up? I still want to continue on my cleanse. Any advice? Since I ate salad this morning do I need to start all over again on my juice cleanse? I should be on day 3 of my cleanse but Im really on day 2 since I ate Monday evening. Thank you.

  174. I would like to try this and was wondering how coffee might alter the results either during or after the 7 days.

    • Hi Ann.. great question. Coffee dehydrates the body due to its caffeine content and the fact that it’s a diuretic. Since we’re focusing on flushing toxins out of the body, re-hydrating the body, and resetting your taste buds, coffee could slightly interfere with your results. However, if you’re just dying for a few sips during the cleanse to relieve a headache, I’d rather you take a few sips of coffee than to quit the entire cleanse 🙂

    • Hi Brii.. This cleanse was designed for 7 days; however, it can safely be executed for 14 days with no breaks. Another safe option would be to wait 20-30 days in between each 7-Day cleanse.

  175. If you can’t get 24-32 oz of the morning juice, can you drink the 16 oz I have got and still be fine? What is the purpose of the amounts of each drink?
Also can you drink water with cucumbers and citrus while on the cleanse?

    • Katie.. Great question. If you feel you only need 16 oz, that’s fine. The purpose of that much juice in the morning is to help flush the system quicker. The combination of drinking that amount of juice on an empty stomach helps to speed up the detox process. You’ll see what I mean once you start the cleanse 🙂 Drinking water with citrus and cucumbers to stay hydrated is fine. Hope this helps and good luck!

  176. I’m more than excited to be doing this!!!! I’m gonna start buying the stuff at the end of this week. But my question is, how come there’s no meat in this? At least chicken or fish for dinner? I did the LA weight loss juice a few years ago, and you drank the juice during the day, then had a piece of chicken and green beans for dinner. I’m also scared for gaining back a few pounds after I’m done cause I won’t be as strict after this! (I could be wrong, maybe my body won’t wanna go back to being nice and be more strict) lol thanks so much!

    • Kyleigh.. I’m so glad you’ll be doing my cleanse. I know you’ll get great results 🙂 The reason I do not include meat is because meat is much harder on the digestive tract than Juice, smoothies, and salads. When you eat foods that take very little time to digest, it allows your body more time to detox rather than being tied up with digesting meat, which can take several hours. Our digestive system is on overload these days with all of the meat we consume, so it’ll be good for your digestive system to receive a much needed break. As far as gaining back a few pounds, you must remember the purpose of a cleanse/detox is to clean as many toxins out of your body as possible in a brief amount of time. Weight loss is a “side effect.” Toxins are stored in fat cells, so as you release toxins, you’ll be releasing fat cells 🙂 Now, you will also lose water weight, so it is normal if you gain back 2-3 pounds after the cleanse. Many find that after the cleanse, they don’t even crave the “junk” anymore because after 7 days of eating REALLY clean foods, they’re taste buds have been re-set. Start making the juices and smoothies a part of your daily routine for continual and consistent detox. Focus on overall health (big picture) instead of quick weight loss because continual detoxification is what will keep you at a healthy weight. Hope this helps!

  177. Hi,
I started my cleanse on Friday, so I am finishing Day 3 and am feeling better as the days go on!thank you for sharing a managanle cleanse! Question… Is there a substitute to the dressings? I am a salt person and have a hard time with those flavors. Thank you for all of your help!

  178. Can you boil the carrots first to make it easier to blend? Am I suppose to be drinking just the juice of the breakfast detox smoothie or am I suppose to eat the whole smoothie? It’s quite chucky.

    • Hi Sarah!.. To answer your questions.. 1) The only time you’ll be using carrots is in the juice (not the smoothie), which can be juiced with a juicer; therefore, no boiling necessary. 2) For a smoothie, you’ll be adding all ingredients to a high-speed blender, blend well, and drink all of it. The difference between a juice and a smoothie: A smoothie is when you add all ingredients to a blender, blend, and drink. A juice is when you add all ingredients to a juicer and drink. Hope this helps!

  179. Will this cause any severe unwanted bowel movements? I have school and was just wondering if I’ll have to be running to the bathroom all day

    • Hi Rachel.. Every one is different, but I usually find that the bowel movements tend to be higher than normal on Days 2-3. For many, it’s best to start on a Friday so you’ll have Saturday and Sunday at home 🙂

  180. Can you add chi a seeds to any of these smoothies? I know that smoothies can help “fill you up”.I plan on starting on Monday and I’m excited!!

    • Maria.. That’s great you’re starting on Monday! Good Luck! As far as adding chia seeds go… Just remember, the closer you stick to the protocol, the greater the results. Adding chia seeds to 1 or 2 smoothies for the week won’t hurt, but the added fat will slow down the detoxification process. So, I won’t say “No, You can’t add chia seeds!” Lol! You most certainly can, but it will lessen your detox results 🙂

      • Ok…gothcha! lol…. I won’t lie, giving up coffee for a week is not going to be easy, but its a small price to pay for a healthy me 🙂 . I will let you know the results when I’m done….thanks again for posting great information!

        • Maria.. When I first gave up coffee during a cleanse, I had a MAJOR headache on about Day 2 or 3. It really goes to show how addicted our bodies become to the caffeine (any type of addiction is NOT a good thing). Fortunately, I had the day off that day and was able to lay in bed most of the day (it was THAT bad). To make it easier on you, you could always take a few sips of coffee each day during the cleanse to lessen the detox effects of caffeine withdrawal. Or, you can do like I did and tough it out for a day and feel great for the rest of the cleanse 😉 Either way, GOOD LUCK! Can’t wait to hear your results!

          • Day six of the cleansing and I feel great. Lost about 10 pounds and I feel better. I know I had junk in my body that needed to get out. One side effect i have felt is weakness. I don’t think I can make it to the seventh day b/c I do feel a bit weak and I have to go out all day tomorrow…can I stop the cleansing early? Can I eat eggs and proteins, like chicken? Can I have cheese like mozzarella? All in moderation of course. … Thank you for posting this excellent cleansing. I’m going to try it again in two months. Hitting the elliptical this week 🙂

          • That’s Fantastic Maria! It’s totally okay to stop early if you feel the need. You can shoot for the whole 7 days next time around 🙂 Eggs and chicken in small amounts won’t hurt to add back into your diet. Try and stay away from condiments with all of those preservatives. You don’t want to erase all of your hard work! If you just keep it simple (as close to the way God made it as possible), you’ll be fine 🙂

  181. I would like to have another smootie during the day, would it be ok to add your fat smoothie (grapefruit one) or the banana, pineapple, strawberry one?

    • Hi Paige.. Feel free to add another fat flush smoothie (the one listed in the protocol) or another green juice or carrot juice (as listed in the protocol). Try to stick with those recipes while doing the detox though 🙂

  182. Hi thank you for sharing this. I am looking forward to give it a try. I have a question about the detox juice. I am not a fan of cilantro/parsley, if I omit it in my juice, do you have any other recommendation that I could add? Also from your experience, how many carrots do you usually use for the carrot juice? Same with the celery and cucumber? I am trying to figure out how much I need to buy to prep for the week.

    THank you again for sharing!

    • Also I am using a blender and cheese clothe to make my morning juices. For the detox juice, should I blend the whole lemon along with the skin?

      Thank you

    • Hi Joanne! Here are some answers for ya: 1) The cilantro and parsley are great for heavy metal detox, which we all need due to environmental conditions. I would suggest trying it first. I believe you’ll find that you can’t really taste the herbs due to the sweetness of the apples. Try cutting the portion in half until you can handle the taste. There are other herbs you can substitute, such as mint leaves, dandelion greens, dill, etc., but these are much harder to find in most grocery stores. 2) As far as the amount of each item you’ll need in each juice and/or smoothie, if you scroll down this blog post, you’ll see it listed. Keep in mind that it will vary depending on the size of each item. You’ll get the hang of it. 3) Since you’ll be using a blender and cheese cloth to prepare your juices, I suggest removing the skin entirely. Hope this helps! 🙂 Good Luck!

  183. in regards to the fat smoothie because you have to blend it in the blender do you just throw everything in there even the skins of the apple and cucumber?

    • Yes! The skins are what give the fat flush smoothie the added fiber, which helps to flush the system quicker. If you’re buying conventional, be sure to wash and scrub your produce REALLY well to remove as much pesticide buildup as possible. A great way to do that is to soak your produce in water and apple cider vinegar (about 1/4 C. ACV).

  184. Can I substitute a bolthouse farms mango ginger carrot juice from the store in the morning? It had a lot of the same ingredients. I couldn’t stomach the carrot juice recipe you have and it was too pulpy as I don’t have a juicer. 🙁

    • Hi Lindy! I always recommend fresh juice because it’s healthier and you get way more vitamins and nutrients. But, if you do not have a juicer, then you can opt for a store bought juice this time around. I would recommend an organic version though, if available at your local grocery store.

  185. I was wondering if i can make these juices ahead of time and how long will it be good for if keep them refrigerated?

  186. It would be really neat if you could create a grocery list to go with the recipes. I would love to do this cleanse, but I always feel like I stop after 2 days because I forgot to buy enough of one item and I don’t want to go back to the store. Just a suggestion!! Thanks!

        • Has there been a shopping list created? I’m starting today and would love to have a pre made list to go off of.

          • Hi Tabitha.. I know I know! I MUST create a shopping list 😉 I have two other jobs in addition to my blog, so I’ve not gotten around to doing it yet; however, I’m moving it to the top of my priority list asap.. so sorry! 🙂

    • Bridget.. Yes, the smoothie is needed because it contains necessary fiber that the juice does not. Both the juice and smoothie play a different role in the detox process. You should be able to find an affordable blender at your local grocery store 🙂

      • Hi Kayla, Thank you! I’m going to start this week. I have Hypoglycemia so ensure that I eat four times a day plus I’m a dog walker so have a long demanding day. Can I have the morning juice as a smoothie instead? I eat at 7am, 11am, 2-3pm and 7-8pm so would also like a mid morning option. Can I repeat the morning recipe or would it be better to eat some fruit or veg? Hope you don’t mind my asking so many questions. Thanks, Lisa

        • Lisa.. It’s important to get that carrot juice in on an empty stomach first thing in the morning so go ahead and ingest the carrot juice in the AM followed by a Fat Flush Smoothie at 11am and another Smoothie at 2-3pm. If you feel you need more fiber after drinking the carrot juice at 7AM, feel free to follow up with a small 8oz smoothie blend that contains plenty of greens (a smaller version of the Fat Flush Smoothie). Also, if you prefer ingesting whole fruit at the 11am or 2-3pm meal, feel free to do so in place of the smoothie… just be sure to ingest a smoothie for at least one of those meals. Good luck!

          • Hi Kayla, Thanks for the helpful info. I have a green smoothie everyday for breakfast so good to know that I can have a small one if needed. Plus I’ll keep and apple to hand. As for the rest I will follow to the letter. I’ll be starting next Monday and will drop back to let you know how it goes.

  187. Hi Kayla!
Today is my first day staring your cleanse, first time starting any type of cleanse period actually! Quick question.. I have heard that a lot of people immediately gain more weight or back the weight that they lost the course of the detox. Has this ever happened to you? I eat relatively clean and plan to after this cleanse, just curious on possible results! Thanks in advanced!

    • Hi Chelsea! Let me begin by saying that the purpose of a cleanse/detox is to begin the process of cleansing your body of toxins.. weight loss just happens to be a beautiful result of it 🙂 So, upon completing a cleanse, it defeats the purpose of the cleanse if you go back to eating all sorts of “toxins” again (i.e. processed foods, etc.), which is why many people gain the weight back. The good thing with my cleanse is that it’s designed to ensure proper metabolism (enough calories) while also detoxing and resetting your taste buds. As as result, it’ll encourage a good whole food diet upon completing the cleanse. If you’re planning on eating whole/natural foods after the cleanse, you should be fine 🙂 Remember, food is fuel – Eat nutrient dense foods, eat only when you’re physically hungry, and stop when you’re satisfied – and you’ll have lifelong success 🙂

  188. Hi! My husband and I are starting this cleanse tomorrow! Just curious do you have any snacks such as fruit in between meals?

    • Hi Janine.. the stricter you stick to the cleanse, the better your results will be. However, if you feel like you can’t make it to the next meal/drink, then by all means please have a fruit snack! Sticking to fruit will ensure that your body stays in cleansing mode.

  189. Your recipes are delicious. I just started today and just finishe my “dinner” juice. I’ve not been hungry all day with the three juice meals. I’m looking forward to tomorrow to make my carrot juice again. The Granny Smith apples add plenty of sweetness to the juices. I found your detox on Pinterest and I’m so glad. Thank you.

    • Pat.. Congrats on making it through Day 1! 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed the juice and smoothie recipes. Keep us posted on your results! If you need any motivation throughout the cleanse, feel free to leave another comment! 🙂

  190. Hello,
I’m thinking about starting this cleanse, however I am very nervous about how frequent i may be “using the bathroom”. Especially at work. Is this sometihng that will make me “go” quite often? I have a blender too, Where can you buy nut/milk bags to drain?

    • Hi Michele! Usually, days 2-3 are when you’ll be eliminating most of your “junk” so I would start on a Friday. The easiest way to find a nut milk bag (for cheap) is on Amazon. A very fine mesh strainer could also work, but the nut milk bag seems to work better than the strainer. Plus, you can use the nut milk bag to make your own homemade almond milk 🙂

  191. Hi I’m wanting to start with a detox and then look for a diet that gives me a 1500 calorie intake. Would a hand blender work on fresh vegetables? If not then I’ll need to get a blender, don’t have the $$ for a juicer….

ALL suggestions is greatly appreciated. 🙂

    • Hi Bobbie.. I would definitely opt for purchasing a blender, if possible. You can also manually juice produce by blending it then straining it through a nut milk bag, which are fairly cheap. 🙂

  192. Hi,
Where is this detox from? did you create it yourself? If so, are you a nutritionist or doctor?
Did you take it from a book or doctor?

    • Hi Jane.. thanks for your concern! As stated in my footer, everything on my site is for informational purposes only.. things that have worked for me personally. I encourage all to seek professional medical guidance before trying out anything on my site, if necessary. Also, this 7-day detox is a detox I created/designed for myself after much tweaking and trial and error. It did wonders for my health! Of course, I can’t promise it’ll help others as much as it did me, which is why I state that all content on my site is solely for informational use and all should seek medical assistance, if needed. 🙂

        • Hi Lindsay! I would definitely seek an answer from your doctor on this matter. Personally, I would suggest to wait until you finish breast feeding. But, you could definitely start incorporating smoothies and juices into your diet for the added nutrition! Check out my latest blog post on my home page.. it gives you 15 easy smoothie recipes 😉

  193. Hello,

I am doing some of my own research about juicing. I am a ballet dancer and I am very in tune with my body. I have become really interested in juicing. I have a few questions.

First, being small and lightweightl, I have trouble maintaining my blood sugar/I am hypoglycemic. Is juicing something that could potentially help maintain my sugars or could it have the opposite effect causing me to crash?

I am currently recovering from surgery.. I had an extra bone in my ankle that was getting crushed when I would pointe my foot…it’s very painful. So, would now be a good time to do a cleanse? Also, being so active, should I stay away from doing a cleanse while dancing? How should I incorporate juicing into my eating schedule while being so active? I am usually dancing about 6 or more hours a day.

    Thank you! 🙂

    • Hi Rebekah! I am no medical professional, but based on my personal experience (I used to be hypoglycemic), I suggest starting slowly to give your body time to adjust. Also, if you’re dancing 6+ hours per day, I do not recommend going on a cleanse because you may experience detox, which can effect your energy levels and ability to focus. If I were you, I would begin by introducing a daily juice or smoothie recipe into your diet, specifically in the mornings and early afternoons (not before bed). Because you’re in tune with your body, you will learn which fruits and veggies give you more energy and which cause you to crash. The key is patience. Your body takes its precious time to adjust 😉 As far as the cleanse goes, I would wait until your activity level decreases a bit and be sure to seek medical assistance prior to doing a cleanse if you feel the need to do so 🙂

    • Hi Eva! That kinda stinks because ginger is a very unique root, specifically for fighting inflammation. Turmeric is also good but it’s even more difficult to find in its root form than ginger! 🙂 But, I believe I have a solution for you.. see if you can find turmeric in powder form (it’ll be in the spice section).. opt for organic, if possible. Add 1 tsp to your juice in place in the ginger.

  194. Hi! I want to start this cleanse today. My only question is I have a vitamixer? Will that work just as good? Do I need to decrease the amount of apples or carrots used in the juices since the Vitamix turns the entire apple into juice? Is that too much sugar/carbs…eating 4-6 whole apples a day?
